Some trips are about covering ground. This one's about settling in.
Lisbon + Porto · a small group · slow travel, the indulgent kind
Portugal is built for lingering, so we gave it the room to. Two cities, an easy stretch of country between them, and days loose enough that lunch can run long and nobody's checking a watch.
In Lisbon, we'll walk the tiled hills with a friend who knows them block by block and taste our way through Portuguese wine — then hand the city back to you for coffees that turn into afternoons. North in Porto, we'll eat through the city with friends who've built their lives around this food, get out on the Douro, and cross to Gaia for a private evening in one of the old port lodges. When you want a day of your own, Porto is made for getting pleasantly lost down toward the Ribeira.
It's a small group! The kind of company where strangers turn into friends somewhere around the second bottle of vinho verde.
Come hungry. Come curious. We'll handle the rest.
Comfortable, central hotels in Lisbon and Porto. Steps from the food, the sights, and the streets worth wandering, and an easy place to land at the end of a long, slow day.
Our first night together, around one table. Portuguese cooking, local ingredients, and the kind of long meal where a group of strangers starts turning into a group of friends.
We'll walk Lisbon with a friend who knows it block by block. The history, the turbulent chapters, the corners you'd never find alone, until it feels less like a map and more like a place you know.
Portugal grows over 250 native grapes, most of which never leave the country. We'll taste our way into a few of them. The kind of wines you can't easily find back home.
We'll ride north together by comfortable coach. No driving, no logistics. Just a couple of hours of countryside rolling past the window.
The best possible introduction to Porto: a food tour with friends who've built their lives around this city, equal parts great eating and getting your bearings.
Out on the water for the best view in the city. Porto rising on one bank, Gaia on the other, along the river that's powered this region for generations.
A private evening in one of Gaia's historic port lodges. The wine that made Porto famous, then dinner after sunset with the lit-up city across the river. The kind of night people bring up for years.
Airfare and transfer between airport is not included
You are responsible for the cost of your food, drinks and sightseeing tickets not mentioned in our itinerary during your free-time.
Laundry, room service, mini bar, telephone calls
Get settled into your beautiful accommodations, centrally located and steps from the city. Tonight we come together for a welcome dinner over Portuguese cooking and a glass or two. The first night the group starts to feel like a group. Afterward the evening is yours, whether that means an early night or a first wander into the city.
We'll set out on foot @ 10:15 AM through Alfama and Baixa with a friend who knows the city block by block. The history, the hard chapters, the corners you'd never find alone. Then taste our way into a few of Portugal's native wines. The afternoon and evening are yours after that: linger over a coffee, chase a viewpoint, let Lisbon set the pace.
A full free day, no agenda. We'll point you toward our favorite spots and you take it from there. Visit the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, explore historic Belém and its iconic tower, take the train out to Sintra and the fairy-tale Pena Palace, or eat your way through the restaurants, cafés, and wine bars of Bairro Alto. The day is entirely yours to shape.
We'll ride north together by comfortable coach, countryside rolling past the window. In Porto, our local friends lead us on a fantastic food and history tour! The dishes that define this city and the stories behind them, and the best introduction to Porto you could ask for. The night is yours to drink it in and explore.
A day on the water and around it. We'll get out on the Douro for the best view in the city, then leave you some room to wander at your own pace. Come evening we gather for a sunset port tasting over the rooftops, then settle in for a private dinner at one of Gaia's historic lodges. The kind of night people bring up for years.
The whole day is yours. Climb the Clérigos tower, lose an hour in Livraria Lello, follow the river out to Foz for the sea air, or eat and drink your way through the city's cafés and wine bars. Feeling ambitious? The Douro Valley is an easy day trip into wine country.
Breakfast is included, but the day is open. No group plans, just goodbyes. Fly home from Porto, train back to Lisbon, or keep going: Braga, Coimbra, and Galicia in Spain are all within easy reach. Both airports connect to cities like Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam, too, if you're not quite ready for this one to end.
