After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the day to explore on your own. 

Peruse the shops in town or hang at the beach. 

We recommend lunch at Don Pedro's (where the catch of the day is always fresh and delicious, plus a great view of the Sayulita Beach) and perhaps a surf lesson for the adventurous. Check out Quiverito Surf Shop, located on Calle Marlin and half a block from the beach, where owner Marilee Woolace from Portland sells and rents beautiful vintage boards.

Live Like a Local Idea: Mercado del Pueblo (Friday mornings only) local market featuring artisanal goods and crafts. We also recommend lunch at Don Pedro's and perhaps a surf lesson for the adventurous.

Dinner suggestion- See Frente al Punto Beach Club for great cocktails and beachfront dining or check out Yambak, a hip, local hangout on Calle Marlin, with an ivy-covered veranda and upbeat music all night. It's a hot spot in town for cold beer or a tasting of mezcal.

If you are looking for local art, check out the Huichol Center (next to Blue Corn Mama) sells incredible local crafts and the money benefits the local Huichol Indian community.

Live Like a Local Idea: Hike from Sayulita to San Pancho

Sayulita to San Pancho is a 4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, Mexico that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.

Lunch and dinner on your own and at leisure. 

Dinner suggestion- La Terrazola is a cool and casual little beach bar with great food! Another option is Barracuda on Avenue del Palmar for light fare like fresh ceviche and tuna tartar. Afterward, grab a drink nearby at Lucid, a cozy beachside lounge for crafted cocktails and a cool vibe.

Time is TBD-  Meet in the lobby and we’ll walk to the boat together.

We'll embark on an all-inclusive charter aboard a 56-foot catamaran. We'll cruise to the Marietta Islands for a bit of snorkeling, paddle boards, fishing and even whale watching (January is the best month to catch a glimpse!)

Las Islas Marietas is one of the most popular things to do in Sayulita and in all of the Riviera Nayarit. Everyone wants to go see the islands which form an archipelago in Bandera’s Bay.

Live Like a Local Idea: Sunday-only Tianguis (meaning open air) market near the beach (Calle Gaviotas) which features handmade artwork and handicrafts from locals of the native Huicholes of Nayarit.

Dinner suggestion- La Rustica

Contemporary Italian restaurant with a Mexican flavor twist, near the main plaza. Though they are open for breakfast and lunch, they are better known as a dinner spot for thin-crispy-crust wood-fired pizzas topped with local ingredients. Their Sayulita pizza features shrimp, bacon, and pineapple, while their El Mar is topped with shrimp, octopus, and clams with pesto; classic pizza flavors are available, too, of course. With three types of sangria daily, an assortment of Mexican craft beers, and unique margarita flavors, the atmosphere is always lively.

 Live Like a Local Idea: Visit the cemetery & Playa de Los Muertos

The town’s local cemetery, and the beach connected to it, is a sight to see! One of our favorite things to do in Sayulita is to take a leisurely walk from downtown to the Sayulita cemetery.

Here, it’s common to see tombstones colorfully decorated with remnants from Day of the Dead festivities — flags, flowers, candles, and memorabilia of the loved one’s favorite things. One grave is even marked with a surfboard.

Just down the hill off to the right sits a tranquil beach, the aptly named Playa de Los Muertos. Here you can enjoy a section of the beach with calm waves (for all of you non-surfers). 

There are lounge chairs for rent on the beach, bathrooms, along with a small food shack for snacks and drinks.

Or maybe grab a drink seaside, and people watch the day away.  We recommend Coco's Beach Club, where you can sit in a rope swing or catch some sun in the sand with your oceanfront lounger.  Beachside service means fresh food and cold cocktails (try the passionfruit margarita) without ever leaving your chair.  But the good vibes and tunes from American icons like David Bowie and Prince will probably have you up dancing anyway ... 

If you haven't check out the hippie market, take a walk over there.   Located riverside, next to the baseball stadium, the Hippie Market is open every day and features products crafted by local artisans. The stalls are stocked with unique items that make excellent gifts, such as hand-painted baseball caps, crochet dreamcatchers in every color scheme, plus handmade jewelry. 

Dinner suggestion- El Itacate, he restaurant’s namesake dish, is a burrito wrapped in fried cheese instead of a tortilla. Fillings can be chicken, pork, fish, or vegetarian (and not just beans! a great veggie mix of cactus, chilies, mushrooms, carrots, and cheese), but they are most famous for their beef.  Super local and super good…

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we transfer to the airport for our international flight back to the USA.

If you feel like venturing out for a taste somewhere else in Sayulita, try Tierra Viva on Calle Marlin for eggs benedict and a mimosa. Or the North Side Café on Calle Miramar just a block away for the best breakfast tacos in town!  Definitely order with chorizo and ask Natalie, the sweet restaurant owner,  for chipotle and jalapeño sauce on the side! 

Grab a bottle of tequila before you go at the Sayulita Wine Shop, since they carry unique brands and batches that you won't be able to find back in the USA.
