About your trip

Year-Round Scenic Tours
Your ultimate Wild Baja adventure begins with takeoff from the La Paz International Airport, soaring on an hour and a half panoramic flight (each way) over untamed desert landscapes, rugged mountains, the sparkling Sea of Cortez over to the wild Pacific—an aerial journey that sets the stage for a once-in-a-lifetime expedition.

Gray Whale Season | Feb. 15 – March 25
Land in López Mateos and board private pangas for an intimate three-hour whale and bird-watching experience. Glide through pristine lagoons as gray whales breach, spyhop, and interact up-close and personal, while a labyrinth of mangroves provides exceptional birdwatching.

During the first leg of the flight, enjoy a light breakfast. After the water excursion, savor a fresh, locally prepared seafood lunch buffet at a nearby restaurant before your scenic return flight to La Paz, with sweeping aerial views of the Magdalena Bay coastline.

Led by Panterra founder and naturalist Lela Sankeralli and Chief Pilot Siddhartha Velázquez Hernández, this expedition blends aviation, conservation, and wildlife expertise. It is more than a trip, this is a bucket-list sky-to-sea adventure—wildlife, wonder, and discovery at every turn.

Please note:
1. Guests meeting at the airport are required to arrive by 7:45 AM to ensure departure as scheduled. We cannot accommodate delays and are not responsible for guests who arrive late.

2. Weather or natural conditions may require schedule adjustments. An alternate date within 2–3 days will be offered to ensure the full experience.

Disclaimer:

For guests with shellfish or seafood allergies, please note the following:

If your allergy or sensitivity is severe, harmful, or life-threatening, we do not recommend this tour.

We cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur at any of the restaurants we may visit.

Your Captain and Expedition Aircraft

Capt. R. Siddharta Velázquez Hernández, former Mexican Air Force pilot and seaplane pioneer, is Chief Pilot for a corporation whose mission aligns with his philosophy—using aviation to promote tourism, support conservation, and preserve regional identity in Baja California Sur.

Your journey begins aboard the Cessna Grand Caravan 208B, a trusted and powerful aircraft designed for adventure without sacrificing comfort. Widely used for premium eco-expeditions and remote access flights, the Caravan is renowned for its smooth ride, reliability, and panoramic viewing. Each guest has their own window seat.

Configured in an exclusive executive layout for just 12 passengers, the cabin offers generous legroom, comfortable seating, and an intimate, uncrowded atmosphere—ideal for relaxed travel and scenic flights.

To enhance comfort even further, the aircraft is equipped with belly pods —external cargo compartments mounted beneath the fuselage. These pods securely store luggage and equipment outside the cabin, freeing up interior space so passengers enjoy a quieter, roomier, and more comfortable flight.

The result is a refined, efficient, and adventure-ready aircraft—perfectly suited for flying into non-commercial airstrips while keeping the experience smooth, spacious, and memorable.

What to Bring

What to Bring:

  1. Water bottle: Bring a filled bottle to minimize single-use plastics in López Mateos.

  2. Clothing: Wear layers and a windbreaker or warm, waterproof jacket to protect against wind and ocean spray. It’s better to have extra layers you can remove than to risk being underprepared. A hoodie is also recommended.

  3. Footwear: Comfortable, water resistent shoes that can get slightly wet while in the panga.

  4. Sun protection: Hat, sunglasses, and biodegradable sunscreen.

  5. Binoculars: A small pair is ideal for birdwatching in the mangroves and close-up wildlife viewing.

  6. Camera protection: Ziploc or waterproof bag to safeguard cameras or phones from splashes.

  7. Personal items: Any medications or necessities you may require for the day.

  8. Backpack: To carry all personal items comfortably.

  9. Spirit of adventure: Bring curiosity, appreciation, and respect for the gray whale mothers sharing their calves with you.
