Join this silent weekend retreat to reestablish a connection with your authentic self, to deeply rest, and to recharge your body, heart and mind.. As a path of growth and genuine happiness you will awaken to a heartfelt concern for yourself and others.


During this retreat Marije Paternotte will offer:


- exercises to develop self-observation without judgment and foster compassion, through writing, conscious communication, and Mindfulness meditation;

- an exploration of movement (Yang yoga) and stillness (Yin yoga), as well as breathing practices, to elicit a wholesome expression of Chi in the body, fostering vitality and overall well-being.



In order to comply with the New York state regulations for public health due to COVID-19 the Won Dharma Retreat Center has made the following arrangements:


  • retreat group size is limited to 20 participants;
  • all retreat participants need to be vaccinated, and provide proof of vaccination upon check-in, OR non-vaccinated guests will be asked to show proof of a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours of arrival on site;
  • if booking a double room without a friend or family member, a negative Covid-test (taken no more than 24-hours prior to arrival) needs to be presented upon check-in;
  • everyone is requested to respect a 6-feet 'social distance' in the indoor spaces
  • face masks will be required to be worn indoors, except when on your mat/cushion for practice and seated for meals
  • enjoying your meals in the outdoor spaces is encouraged
  • you will be required to sign a Covid Waiver Form upon check-in. If you have a fever, or other symptoms that may indicate infection with COVID-19,  you will not be allowed to join the retreat.

Marije Paternotte was born and raised in Amsterdam where, after her training to be a professional ballet dancer, she studied law and worked as a corporate lawyer. A yoga retreat in Bali led her to the United States where she took her first yoga teacher training. She currently lives in a small beach town in New Jersey with her husband, and teaches yoga workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings around the world. Marije is a guest teacher at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts and the Mandali Retreat Center in Italy.

I followed the Elements workshop from Marije and I loved it. With her great knowledge she explained the first part of the workshop all about de 5 elements. How they connect to each other and how to notice an imbalance and how to balance the element. During the second part we did a lot of exercises related to each of the elements to balance them. Here nice way of speaking and explaining made this workshop soo much of an treat to me. She inspired me to be more aware of the elements during the day and really listen to my body what’s it telling me. Nice tools to balance my body. I really recommend this 5 element workshop.

I met Marije a year ago on a Yoga-retreat, she made me fall in love with Yin Yoga. Five months later I joined her 75-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand. A 10-day-training in which I learned the practice of Yin Yoga, pranayama, mindfulness meditation and a whole lot more. I also learned a lot about myself, which was also very interesting. The way Marije teaches a class, a retreat or a training is really amazing: with calmness, fun, respect and love. She is very helpful and very organized. The training includes a very nice program with understandable theory and practice for everyone, to develop at their own pace and to become a Yin Yoga teacher. The training ends with an exam in practice and an exam in theory and of course a beautiful certificate. For me, it was a life-changing and unforgettable journey on an extremely beautiful island.

This 75-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Marije was wonderful. Marije is very knowledgeable, well organized, and fully present. The structure and sequence of the weekends was carefully and thoughtfully arranged in such a way that precisely on the last day the whole program literally jelled for me. The content and assignments insured us all to be a prepared teacher to walk off and teach with confidence. Highly recommend this class.

Everything about this experience, from Marije to the Won Dharma Center was absolute perfection. The Center is in such a lovely, peaceful place. Great walking trails. The food is quite delicious. The energy that surrounds you here puts you at ease immediately. Marije is so knowledgeable and gracious, with a calming presence she creates a retreat that is unforgettable. I have used many of the things I learned there since. Thank you Marije and Won Dharma for taking such good care of me:)

The yin yoga teacher training with Marije was an outstanding experience as it was both a very personal as well as insightful journey. Marije is very knowledgable and I truly enjoyed all the science-backed background information she offered as well as her skillful teaching which allowed us to teach with confidence by the end of this training.
