Join us at Punta el Custodio, Nayarit, Mexico for a week-long retreat of relaxation, learning, and the one-of-a-kind magical experience of a total eclipse of the Sun! Guests will occupy stylish villas of exquisite design and furnished with stunning Mexican cultural art. The private and luxurious surroundings are set among tropical gardens with expansive views of the cliffs and the vast Pacific ocean. Located on the stunning Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, the villas each boast a plunge pool, and there is a large community pool under the 400-year-old namesake Chalata tree, El Custodio. All meals are lovingly prepared by the staff using fresh local ingredients.
Unique Science Program
Our week-long eclipse program will be led by our Science Director, Dr. Bruce Lites, a pre-eminent Solar Scientist who has dedicated his career to the study of the Sun. At Punta el Custodio our small group will have the opportunity to learn in person about the Sun and its amazing phenomena from a world-leading expert and a veteran of scientific eclipse experiments. The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse in Mexico
The 2024 eclipse on the Mexican Pacific Coast is a unique opportunity for eclipse viewers:
- Long Eclipse: with a totality lasting over four minutes, the 2024 eclipse is much longer than the 2 1/2-minute 2017 eclipse in the USA
- Clear Skies: The region around Mazatlán has a very high probability of clear eclipse viewing, unlike locations along the path of totality for this eclipse in the USA. This chart shows the likelihood of cloudy skies along the eclipse path The Mexican Pacific Coast has nearly the lowest chance for clouds along the entire eclipse path
- Great Weather: In addition to mostly clear skies, one can expect lows in the mid 60s (F) and highs in the low 80s in early April

Itinerary
Via email, the organizers of the program will circulate detailed instructions and information regarding logistics of the trip. This will happen roughly 6 weeks before the event. Then about four weeks before the event we will host a pre-trip video call in order for everyone to become acquainted, provide up-to-date information, and allow everyone to pose questions.
