About your teachers

James Kapicka (E-RYT 200, RYT 500) is a movement facilitator, Thai massage therapists and affection advocate with a passion for bringing people together to move, explore and connect. A student of eastern and western philosophy who studied psychology in undergrad and counseling in graduate school, James is inspired by the wisdom teachings of Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hanh, the Bhagavad Gita and the Tao te Ching. James offers sacred somatic ceremonies, leads embodiment retreats, and teaches yin trainings to inspire personal freedom and support community connection. Through sincere and heartfelt guidance, he creates an environment that empowers students to trust their intuition and listen to their heart. This approach promotes curiosity, creative play and authentic expression, and allows for a deeply resonant relationship with self, others and our planet.

Grounded in awareness, connectivity, and flow, Matthew Nelson takes an ecstatic and scholarly approach to being at home in our bodies. Matthew brings over 20 years experience on his path as an artist and therapist, achieving qualifications that include an MFA in Modern Dance, and certifications in Laban Movement Analysis, Massage, and Pilates. He breathes embodiment as ground zero for the critical realization that we are living systems, made up of living systems, and participating in living systems.  His presence is compassionate, his spirit playful, and he is forever curious.

Winter Jendayi is a passionate songstress, ceremonialist and yoga instructor (RYT-700) residing in the Sierra Foothills where she is co-creating a conscious community and retreat center, The Confluence, and holding a variety of monthly yoga classes, ceremonial circles and offerings. Music is the heart in all Winter shares as she allows the sounds and vibrations to inspire and facilitate healing. Winter has spent the last five years in countries and communities around the globe where she received teachings from elders and experienced many traditional forms of healing. From this work she has found inspiration and guidance for holding space and using music as medicine. Inspired by sacred plants, indigenous practices and prayer, Winter strives to weave her visions, experiences and the wisdom she receives, into her music and work, guiding listeners to become aware of the sacred space within and of our deep connection with the earth.

My experience on this retreat was profound. I give so much gratitude to Matthew, James, and Winter for the gifts, wisdom, guidance they shared and for the way they were able to hold space for the group. It was a deeply transformative and healing weekend for me. I felt incredibly safe to be vulnerable and to step out of my shell and explore myself and my relationship with others in ways I didn't think possible. I look forward to joining many more events where these wonderful facilitators/teachers will be teaching and sharing their gifts. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience! Much Love, Olesya
James is a great yoga teacher and we both had a wonderful time. I would definitely attend a retreat of his in the future
Exceptional facilitation from James, Sarah, Ashley and Nathan. They really listened to the group at all times and sensed into what would best suit us creating are retreat full of flow and ease. I felt comfortable and welcomed from the moment that I arrived and honestly didn’t want the experience to end. I would highly recommend anyone to take part in future events, whatever your capabilities are with yoga James’ attentive guidance will allow you to move into postures and shapes that suit you best. Thank you so much to James, Sarah, Ashley and Nathan!
Beautifully led weekend retreat. I deeply appreciate James and Sarah for their kindness, patience and direction. It was a special group. I personally felt so amazed by the meditation, yoga, massage, music, and overall healing. It is difficult to sum up the power of this retreat into words. It took me a few days to integrate back to my day to day life. I am determined to keep the helpful weekend bits of wisdom with me as I continue to heal. Thank you for the wonderful retreat! Many blessings.
James and Sarah were very knowledgeable and wonderful teachers. The small size of the group made them very easy to talk to and question about the various sessions. A wonderfully diverse yoga retreat. And, Mount Madonna provided excellent support for the retreat.
