Kalk Bay

Set on the scenic coast of False Bay, Kalk Bay is a charming seaside village adorned with a fisherman's harbour and a vibrant Main Road lined with quaint shops that offer unique treasures and local crafts. The inlet boasts a diverse culinary scene, with its restaurants serving delectable seafood dishes and other culinary delights. Overlooking the bay, visitors can enjoy breathtaking sea views and explore the mysterious Boomslang Caves, adding an adventurous touch to this picturesque coastal gem.

Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach is located in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a sheltered beach of inlets between granite boulders and crystal clear waters. The area is home to one of the largest breeding colonies of African penguins. Visitors can observe the penguins close up from elevated boardwalks while enjoying beautiful views. It is a popular location for swimming, snorkelling, and birdwatching.

Cape Point Vineyards

Cape Point Vineyards is a family-owned vineyard in Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula. The vineyard is majestically set against the slopes of the famous Chapman’s Peak mountain range and overlooks the nearby Atlantic Ocean.

Visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner at the restaurant, a relaxed picnic on the lawns, wine tasting, and relaxing and unwinding in the courtyard.

The Foodbarn Restaurant

The Foodbarn Restaurant is in Noordhoek Farm Village, Noordhoek, South Africa. The restaurant offers delicious, decadent, casual fine dining in a relaxed and characterful old barn.

Chapman's Peak

Chapman’s Peak Drive winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. Situated on the Atlantic Coast, at the southwestern tip of South Africa, it is one of the most spectacular scenic drives in the world. The 9km route, with its 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman's Peak. The drive offers stunning 180-degree views, and there are many areas along the road where visitors can stop and take in the scenery or sit down for a relaxing picnic.

Beyond

Beyond is a fine-dining restaurant located in Buitenverwachting, Constantia. The restaurant pays special attention to a diverse range of exceptional raw produce. It caters to all palates, from rare-breed meats and seasonal heirloom vegetables to artisanally crafted cheeses. The menu also features a selection of local wines, including varietals from the region's wineries, to complement the gourmet dishes.

Once on the top, 1000m above the city below, you are rewarded with spectacular 360 views. Take your time and enjoy this unique environment, go for a walk or have a bit to eat at the restaurant with arguably one of the best views possible.

Southern Guild Art Gallery

Southern Guild is a contemporary art gallery in Cape Town, South Africa, representing artists from Africa and its diaspora. Their program explores themes such as culture, spirituality, identity, ancestral knowledge, and ecology. 

They opened their first US gallery in Los Angeles in 2024, showcasing excellence across functional and contemporary art. The gallery partners with artists to foster their careers and nurture new talent through educational projects, mentorship initiatives, and their own GUILD Residency. 

They encourage cultural exchange and interconnectedness through their international fair and biennale program and partner with curators, institutions, and museums to realise distinctive interdisciplinary projects.

Beau Constantia

Beau Constantia is a boutique wine farm situated at the top of Constantia Nek, overlooking False Bay. Vines are planted at an elevation of 350 metres above sea level on some of the steepest agricultural slopes in the Cape. These lovingly nurtured vines are spoilt with panoramic views of the Stellenbosch and Helderberg Mountain ranges and over False Bay as far as Hangklip.

Tryn

Tryn is nestled in the idyllic Constantia Valley Winelands. The restaurant features beautifully decorated dining rooms and a sizeable sun-dappled terrace with vineyard and garden views. Guests are offered refined dining in a serene setting, with delightfully wholesome breakfasts, light and easy lunches, and sumptuous and flavorful dinners.

Hermanus

Situated just 140 kilometres from Cape Town and built between the beautiful shores of Walker Bay, Hermanus has grown from a small seaside resort town to arguably the best-known place for whale watching worldwide.

This town is also famed for its natural scenic beauty, featuring long stretches of pristine beaches. An excellent variety of restaurants, cafes and bars are also on offer. Today, Hermanus is more than just a popular holiday destination; it offers visitors many energetic and relaxing activities. Visitors can explore the Old Harbour Museum, which is comprised of the charming fisherman’s village, the Old Harbour, and the Whale House Museum; hike through the nearby Fernkloof Nature Reserve, and sample an array of top-quality wine along the famous Hermanus Wine Route.

Overnight: The Marine

The Marine, a member of The Liz McGrath Collection, is one of South Africa's most spectacular seaside hotels.

Located on Hermanus’ famous cliff path, overlooking the breathtaking Walker Bay, the Small Luxury Hotels of the World property offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience the finest land-based whale watching from June to November each year. Guests can even view these majestic creatures from their own sea-view bedroom. The Overberg region is also a must for adventure sport seekers, offering various activities – including hiking, mountain biking and marine sports. Double Room

Each of these comfortable guest rooms has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and under-floor heating. It also has a king-size bed, which can be converted into a twin bed in some rooms. In addition, several of the Double Rooms open out onto private balconies. Rooms range in size between 22 and 44m2. There is a maximum of two people per room.

Situated at the historic Granger Bay site of the V&A Waterfront, the Oranjezicht City Farm Market is a community farmers-style market for independent local farmers and artisanal food producers to introduce their products to the public every Saturday morning. Over 65 producers contribute free-range meat and eggs, fresh vegetables, fish from sustainable sources, and artisan cheeses and bread. The market provides plenty to eat on-site for vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers alike. The area offers seating, sea views, and local artists' music performances. There is no entrance fee.

Creation Wine Estate

Creation Wine Estate and Tasting Room - The story of Creation Wines is as old as the hills - dating back to when Mother Nature created South Africa's beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde and bestowed upon it exceptional wine-growing conditions.

Brookdale Estate

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Klein Drakenstein mountains in Paarl, Brookdale Estate is as unexpected as she is enchanting. Stellenbosch

Just 45 minutes from Cape Town, Stellenbosch is an enticing Western Cape destination with an exciting culinary scene, photogenic historic buildings, and a youthful atmosphere. The beautiful university town is surrounded by mountains, vineyards, and nature reserves (Jonkershoek and Simonsberg), making it a charming base for wine tours, day trips and outdoor adventure. The town centre is characterised by a “holiday feeling” - sublime art galleries, award-winning restaurants and alluring boutiques fringe leafy cobbled streets - and a sense of aliveness as students bustle between faculties. Lanzerac Taphuis Restaurant

The succession of ownership through the eras has layered the Estate’s rich history, and present-day Lanzerac honours the rich and vast legacy by telling the stories of its past. Created during the Rawdon era, the Taphuis Bar is where guests have created many memories. The treacle brown bar has been welcoming thirsty travellers since the 1960s. Although damaged in the 2017 fire, it has undergone extensive repairs to retain its original feel, with some elements salvaged from the flames being reused alongside new additions. The Taphuis’ country-inspired décor is rich in texture with rough stone walls, brick floors and exposed wooden ceilings. The gourmet pub-style menu offers sharing plates and light meals in a relaxed environment overflowing with beautiful country charm. We will take a commercial flight from Cape Town International Airport to Victoria Falls International Airport. The Matetsi team will meet us at the airport, and we will be transferred to Matetsi Lodge by private transfer.

Activities

The day-to-day itinerary at Matetsi will unfold as we spend our time there. The usual rhythm of a safari day starts with an early wake-up call ~30 minutes before leaving camp on your morning game drive (after a morning coffee and light snack). We return to camp mid-morning for a full breakfast and then have leisure time for elective activities and lunch until afternoon tea around 330pm before heading out on our afternoon activity at around 4 pm.

We have a variety of activities planned for the group, which will be revealed throughout our stay. To name a few, we will participate in various safari activities on land and in the Zambezi River. We'll also take a half-day guided trip into Victoria Falls town to experience the magnificent falls and visit one of the Jakuta Foundation projects, which feature programmes to empower the local community. 

When not on wildlife excursions, we can enjoy the comfort of our suites, watch wildlife passing by from our verandahs or private plunge pools, visit the spa or take an optional helicopter tour over Victoria Falls (fees apply).

Day 10: End of Itinerary (Fri, 22 November)

After the morning game drive and breakfast, we will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport, from where we will return to Cape Town or journey on to our next destination for those who are continuing their travels.

Here, we will say our fond farewells until next time and wish everyone safe and joyous travels home or onward from this point.
