Amy Walker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Walker Wellness Retreats, which she launched in 2016 to combine her passions for travel, mental wellness, and creating transformative experiences. With a deep commitment to helping others, Amy leads 6–10 international retreats each year, providing all-inclusive experiences that foster connection, self-discovery, and personal growth. She loves showing people the world and creating meaningful, unforgettable travel experiences.


When she’s not guiding retreats, Amy works as an online mental health therapist, specializing in helping individuals and couples overcome barriers, improve communication, and build fulfilling relationships. Her approach integrates evidence-based techniques with compassionate, solution-focused support.

May in South Africa and Mozambique brings cool mornings and evenings, with warmer daytime temperatures. Game drives can be chilly, so layering is key. Lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, or green) is best for safaris, while breathable, comfortable attire is ideal for beach days in Mozambique. Pack light due to internal flight restrictions and prefer a soft-sided duffel bag for easier transport.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your trip before the 90-day deadline, 25% of the total trip price is non-refundable, as are any airfare, train tickets, or ferry tickets purchased as part of your trip package due to the strict cancellation policy by foreign carriers (if applicable).


Trip cancellations requested after the final payment deadlines listed above are non-refundable, and guests are encouraged to file a claim with their travel insurance for reimbursement. 


In the unlikely event Walker Wellness Retreats cancels the retreat, guests will be provided a full 100% refund of their booking. 


Lastly, we partner with several third-party booking platforms that have separate deposit and cancellation policies. If you book through a third-party partner, please refer to their specific cancellation policies.

Your South African adventure begins today! Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport (CPT), feel free to arrive at your convenience. Our dedicated driver, easily identifiable by a Walker Wellness Retreats sign, will warmly welcome you and transport you to the luxurious Hyatt Regency Cape Town, your home for the start of this incredible journey.


Once you’ve checked in, the rest of the afternoon is yours to unwind and acclimate. Whether you choose to relax in the comfort of your hotel or venture out to explore the vibrant streets of Cape Town, the city offers a wealth of opportunities to immerse yourself in its culture and charm.


6:00 PM: Meet your fellow travelers and retreat hosts during a Welcome Orientation in the hotel lobby.


7:00 PM: Delight in a group dinner at a local restaurant, savoring the rich flavors of South African cuisine and hospitality.

8:30 AM: Journey to Franschhoek Valley

Meet your guide and set off on a picturesque journey to the Franschhoek Valley, a region celebrated for its rich winemaking heritage, breathtaking scenery, and culinary excellence. 


Some highlights that you will see on your morning adventure include: 

• Cape Dutch farm, one of the oldest and most enchanting in South Africa.

Chapman's Peak Drive: Begin with a drive along this world-famous coastal route. Pass through Clifton, Camps Bay, and the charming Hout Bay Valley, marveling at the Atlantic Ocean's dramatic curves and stunning vistas.

Ostrich Farm: Visit a local farm to interact with and feed ostriches and learn about these fascinating birds.

Cape of Good Hope & Cape Point: Visit the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula within Table Mountain National Park.

As the day cools, embark on your first safari adventure. This 3-hour game drive takes you deep into the wilderness, where you’ll have the opportunity to witness Africa’s incredible wildlife in their natural habitat.
