Your time in Buenos Aires will be at a four star luxury hotel such as the Palladio, Hilton Puerto Madero or Park Tower; near many of Buenos Aires' sites.  You'll enjoy luxurious accommodations and impeccable service. With Wifi, spa, outdoor-rooftop pool and or indoor pools, rooftop bar and many other services.  Breakfast will be included daily.  Your hotel is located in the heart of a vibrant upscale area, with of restaurants nearby and an easy walk along the scenic canal banks. A very safe, clean and well-managed area just outside of your hotel. 

We’ll start our day in San Telmo where we’ll walk its ancient streets learning some of the significant ways in which black knowledge and culture permeated what is popularly known as “Argentine culture”. From architecture to gastronomy, we’ll reconstruct the legacy of African culture in Buenos Aires. 

We’ll learn the story of María Remedios del Valle, the Mother of the Motherland, a black heroine after whom we have an Afro-Argentine History and Culture Day. In our walk, we’ll check out the mural our tour company commissioned in honor of this heroine, which was designed by afro-indigenous artist Kilava. 

After lunch at Sagardi, we’re off to either:

1. A private screening of the documentary of Maria Remedios directed by none other than our Black Travel Department Director: Julia Cohen Ribeiro. We will be joined by black activists featured in the documentary for some Q&A. 

Before the screening, we’ll get to experience a mate ritual together! 

After the documentary we’ll head to the first and only Afro Argentine cultural center where we’ll have a workshop of candombe, the traditional music of the local community.

2. Visit to the amazing neighborhood of Recoleta and its famous streets and cemetery, then to La Boca for even more cultural immersion. 

Dinner will begin at one of Buenos Aires' most acclaimed restaurants for an traditional Argentinian "Asado"; barbecue on a higher level! this will not be your average backyard cookout!

From 10am until 4pm, On this day we visit various unique sites within Buenos Aires area, as seen from the Tigre river. A river boat tour of the Tigre River Basin.  This tour will include lunch, with a return. *Cocktails at your own expense.

Alternatively, take a day trip via ferry to Colonia, Uruguay. Just an hour and a half ferry ride across the river for a great visit to historic Colonia. Golf carts can be rented to travel the cobblestone streets.  Its is a beautiful escape just across the river from Argentina.  From its iconic lighthouse to the beautiful riverfront with ruins from its Colonial history, its a great way to spend a day in another country! A terrific small town right on the river, restaurants, souvenirs and another stamp for your passport! The Colonia trip would be from 9:00am until 6:45pm. 

We depart for the Falls, Argentine side for 3 days, 2 nights of breathtaking Amazon Adventure.  We will do a short Amazon trek/safari, enjoy the falls, meet with locals and with lunch near the falls (on own for all guests).  A breathtaking experience! Then the debate can begin, which falls were greater, Victoria or Igaçu! You'll see the falls from the Argentine and Brazil sides. 

We then move to Salvador, Brazil. Our hotel home will be a four-star hotel such as the Fera Palace hotel.  Salvador is home to the largest population of Black people in Brazil. Salvador-Bahia, which was once the Capital of Brazil.  A port city with a huge African-based culture. Here we'll interact with the people, tour the town, indulge in some of the cultural experiences brought from the Motherland.  Let's enjoy our brothers and sisters. We'll arrange for a home visit for time shared and a meal to savor, music, and dancing! 

Enjoy eye-opening excursions to include:  An African Heritage private city tour, a host-family cooking participation, a Folkloric Show and dinner.  Salvador offers a view into the Diaspora that some may not be  aware of. 

Our final visit with a stay at the Hilton Copacabana hotel.  Near one of the most famous beaches of Rio de Janiero! We end the South American adventure with a visit to Rio de Janiero. Here we will visit the key sites of Rio, including Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana beach, maybe a casino. We'll continue to enjoy the great foods and beverages of Brazil!   We will explore the wonder of Rio to include a visit to Cristo Rey, a sunset sail or boat tour, a Favela walking tour, a Carnival experience, including visiting with some of our African heritage brothers and sisters. There will be time for relaxing on the beach and or shopping if you prefer!  Rio is an amazing city that you will come to love! We board our flights back to the U.S. After setting the Eastern seaboard ablaze with the "Travel Buddies!"
