This trip is for those who want to travel independently, but together, meaning the following:
We have a flexible itinerary to adapt to the group wishes and the conditions
Any events happening that we hear about on the way? We can do it!
Roads closed due to ice and snow? We will find alternatives!
The trip is run on a kitty based / way of cost sharing for food and accommodation
We will find AirBnBs, guesthouses etc and share the cost along the way
This allows us to adapt to peoples budgets, and how far we get that day
Cooking together can be a fun way to get your new travel mates
Choose the activities that you want to do, and meet up with the group afterwards
Want to do the golden circle road trip in Reykjavik? Or would you rather go shopping, visit museums and explore the city? Thats completely up to you!
Most will probably want to join the suggested program, but it's no problem if anyone wants to do their own thing and then meet up with the rest in the evening.
If this sounds like something that could work for you, then send a message and let me know you'd be interested to join!
Dont worry about the cost of gas, car rental, parking, tolls etc. Thats all taken care of!
Because it's free! :D
We will book places together on the road, based on the budgets and wishes of the group
Budget for some eating out and some cooking
Arrive at any time, and join cooking a dinner together with your new travel friends. Choose to stay in and get some rest before the trip starts, or to go for some drinks or looking for northern lights.
We will spend between 4-7 hours on the road covering around 300km, stopping at some of the following places:
Mývatn Nature Baths – Blue Lagoon vibes minus the crowds.
Námaskarð Hverir – Bubbling mud pots & sulphur steam.
Krafla Víti Crater – Turquoise lake in a lava bowl.
Goðafoss – “Waterfall of the Gods” on route to Akureyri
Ideally we would look for a place to stay in Mývatn for the night.
We could try to cover 400km to stop at some of the following places:
Djúpivogur – Coffee with art‑rock eggs along the harbour.
Seyðisfjörður (optional 1‑hr detour) – Rainbow‑street village in a postcard fjord.
Dettifoss – Europe’s most powerful cascade – thunder you can taste.
Ásbyrgi Canyon – Horse‑shoe gorge said to be Odin’s horse‑print.
Hengifoss – Red‑banded cliff waterfall near Egilsstaðir.
Ideally we would find a place to sleep around Höfn for the night.
Ideally we would cover around 280km, stopping at the following places:
Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon – Moss‑draped serpent viewed from cliff‑top paths.
Skaftafell (Vatnajökull NP) – Hike to basalt‑organned Svartifoss.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon – Sail past sapphire bergs the size of houses.
Diamond Beach – Shards of ice glitter on jet‑black sand.
Fjallsárlón Lagoon – Same ice drama, quarter the crowds.
The goal would then be to spend the night in Vik.
The last long stretch of the trip could be from Vik to Reykjavik, where we could stop at the following places:
South‑Coast icons – Mist‑walk behind Seljalandsfoss & climb Skógafoss’ 370 steps.
Reynisfjara Black‑Sand Beach – Hexagonal basalt & Atlantic thrum.
Fancy doing the ring road? Or a glacier ice cave tour? Or simply explore Reykjavik? Whichever you want to do, today would be the day to do it!
With no planned activites, you could book your flight out at any time. I'll do my best to drive everyone to the airport before dropping the car off.
