About this trip

Signature Tour: Provence & Occitanie Like a Local

Explore the best of the South of France during our 9 day tour along with expert locals of the region! With stops including quaint French villages, medieval castles, wineries and the beautiful region of Provence, this is a complete and diversified trip that you will never forget!

Add-ons

Extra night before the tour + Special pickup: This option will get you an extra night in your hotel before the tour starts and it also includes early pick up from the airport or train station when you arrive. You only need to purchase one of these options per room.

Extra night after the tour + Special drop-off: This option will get you an extra night in your hotel after the tour ends and it also includes drop off at the airport or train station when you depart. You only need to purchase one of these options per room.

Room upgrades: There are several room upgrades with limited availability on a first come first serve basis. The differences from the standard room are listed next to each room. Aside from the differences listed, the rooms are similar. The price listed for the upgrade is for the whole tour.

Aix-en-Provence Self-guided tour extension:  Since some people like to stay in France a bit longer after the tour and see more of the South, we are offering a private transfer to Aix-en-Provence at the conclusion of your South of France tour. We will give you our self guided tour program and drive you to Aix-en-Provence and drop you off at your hotel. We recommend staying at the Aquabella Hotel and Spa or the Hotel Cezanne but there are many options and you are free to choose whichever hotel you like and how long to stay. When you decide to leave Aix there are a few options to continue your journey or make your return home. Aix-en-Provence has a train station and there is also another train station and an international airport in Marseille just a 30 minute taxi ride away. The self guided tour extension is per person. If you are two people in a booking you must select 2.

We started this company to help people who are in love with France to have a cultural trip where they can experience the country as temporary locals, not the average tourists bouncing around in a crowd or waiting in long lines and getting stuck in tourist traps. We will help you make a deeper connection with the country and understand what it is like to live there, while fulfilling the desire to see amazing sites and make lasting memories.

This was a FABULOUS experience! Julia created a varied and interesting itinerary that included the usual highlights (places like Arles, Avignon, and Nimes) as well as places and activities that are not on the usual big group package tours: a cheese cave, Camarque cowboys and bulls, petanque (the local version of bocce), walks on ramparts in small medieval villages, and accommodations in a beachfront hotel in a Mediterranean town that is not overbuilt like so many places are becoming. The food was wonderful; Julia took great care to select fine restaurants that represent the best of the regional cuisine - and wine was included with lunch and dinner. We had tours and tastings at 3 wineries. And if you love to take pictures (I do!) there were infinite opportunities to take pictures of mountains, vineyards, castles, cathedrals, monuments, horses, flowers, people, and more. This tour included everything except for 5 dinners (and we were given a helpful list of recommended restaurants), airfare, and souvenirs, and was VERY reasonably priced. Julia, Isabelle (the other guide), and her family warmly welcomed us and introduced us to Provence and we truly felt like we were "Traveling like a local!" Tip: if a balcony room is available when you book the trip, it is worth the small upgrade expense!

Once again Julia and Stephane, her father, the owners of TripUSAFrance have outdone themselves! Three years ago we took the Normandy tour with them and it was so wonderful that as soon as we got home we knew we wanted to book their South of France tour. After having to reschedule three times because of covid, we finally made it! With a personal pickup at the airport, it was like seeing old friends. We stayed the entire time in a lovely boutique hotel in Palavas across the street from the beach. The hotel owners, Katy and Jerome are friendly and run a clean and well appointed establishment which includes a wine store! We enjoyed sipping wine on our balcony that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea after a day of touring. The breakfast prepared by Katy for our group was so welcoming each morning with fresh croissants, cheese, fruits and yogurt. The first morning I ordered a decaf coffee and every morning after, she brought it without me even asking. Julia, who grew up in the South of France and completely bilingual is the best tour guide you could hope to have. She has detailed each day of the tour so all you have to do is show up at the appointed time to be ready for the day's adventure, which ranges from ancient Roman cites to medieval castles and cathedrals to a BBQ at a ranch and so much in-between. We enjoyed wine tastings, a Roquefort cheese cave tour and tasting, an authentic French picnic, where Cathy, Julia's Mom (and Stephane's wife) prepared many delicious courses. We played several lively games of Pétanque and saw a beautiful underground light show featuring Cezanne. When Julia provides a private guide in a particular village just know that you're getting the best. The wonderful dining experiences are another highlight of the tour. Each restaurant is hand chosen by Julia and Stephane where we enjoyed the local dishes of each region we visited, carefully prepared and well presented. I love the motto of this company, "see France like a local" as it's exactly the experience Julia and Stephane provide. However, it's like seeing France with dear friends as well. Thank you for another wonderful trip!

Oh my goodness! We had such an amazing time. The TripUSAFrance team exceeded all of our expectations on every level. The itinerary was excellent and we were delighted every day. Julia and Stephane made sure that every detail large and small was perfect. You can tell that they love the south of France and they made sure that we did, too. And, the food(!!) was fabulous with restaurants carefully picked out and two memorable "picnics". We felt like we were traveling with family and best friends. The hotel was charming and it was great to stay in one place for the whole tour. Yes, you need to book this tour right now.

No audioguide avai!able at Popes palace. air France had no seats at scheduled departue so return delayed overnight. Tour director and meals quite good. Not enough time at St.Remy hospital .hopedto visit St. Remy village. Historic site visits remarkable.

This tour was everything I’d hoped for and more! I love that this is a family-owned tour group, and Julia and Stephane were fantastic guides. They (and Cathy, mom to Julia/wife to Stephane) made us feel at home and taken care of. Probably the highlight of the trip was the picnic after one of the wine tastings. Cathy made all the food for a 4-5 course meal, Stephane played guitar and sang for us, and we all ate too much, laughed, and had the best time. We saw truly incredible towns and sites: St Guilhem, Arles, and the cathedral at Carcassonne were probably my favorites. However, the food and wine on this were truly outstanding! Julia and Stephane carefully select and try out each restaurant and so every lunch and dinner were incredible, especially the lunch at Rochefort and our last dinner in Aigues-Mort. Lastly, I’m so glad I chose a small group tour because we really got to know our fellow guests and made great friends with them. Bring your sense of adventure and appetite to France, and you’ll love this tour as much as I did!
