We begin today exploring the Canyon Road Arts District then take the shuttle to Santa Fe Plaza where we visit Loreto Chapel which is famous for its unusual spiral staircase. It rises 20 feet while making two full turns, all without the support of a central pole. According to legend, it was built in answer to prayers by the local nuns when a mysterious stranger appeared and offered to build the staircase. He worked alone using only a few simple hand tools and disappeared afterwards without collecting his pay or the Sisters learning his identity. In any case, it’s an amazing feat of woodworking.
After lunch, there's free time to wander the plaza with its wonderful mix of amazing food, charming galleries, and fabulous shopping before dinner at local institution The Shed.
