About this trip

This full day spinning workshop is dedicated to mastering the art of plying. We'll explore a variety of techniques to create balanced, durable, and visually interesting yarns. Learn the fundamentals of creating a 2-ply, understanding how to achieve consistent twist and even yarn. We'll then delve into more advanced methods, including 3-ply and chain plying, uncovering the unique characteristics and applications of each. Participants will gain hands-on experience, practicing each technique and learning how to select the appropriate plying method for their desired yarn outcome.

Beth Trotti

Beth’s passion for fiber arts was ignited when her mother taught her how to crochet in 2012.  Soon after that, Beth discovered her local yarn store, Tempe Yarn & Fiber and learned how to knit and spin.  Since 2019, Beth has shared her knowledge and enthusiasm as the spinning instructor at Tempe Yarn & Fiber, guiding students through the transformative process of creating yarn from raw fiber. Her patient and encouraging approach empowers spinners of all levels to unlock their creative potential and experience the joy of crafting unique, handspun yarns. Beth fosters a supportive and inspiring learning environment. Whether you're a new spinner eager to explore the basics or a seasoned crafter looking to refine your skills, Beth will guide you on a fulfilling spinning adventure.

What an amazing experience! I learned more about fiber processing than I expected. The time in the fiber mill was priceless. Chris's excitement and enthusiasm was infectious and you could tell fiber is her passion. The accommodations and meals were great! All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I feel lucky that this place is less than 2 hours from me. I hope to be back for a meal, shopping, or another retreat!

Chris is a phenomenal host and a 'Jack of all Trades,' ALWAYS willing to go above and beyond to make the customer feel at home. A relaxing weekend of fun, food, and friends!! :)

BEAUTIFUL setting. The perfect place for a quiet retreat or small wedding, family reunion, etc. The old schoolhouse has been restored so incredibly well. Definitely a one of a kind place! The food is AMAZING and service can't be beat. I have visited three years in a row and they just keep getting better! Definitely recommend going out of your way to see this place!
