After your time at the Samadhi Yoga Ashram you will transfer South to the Gange Kinare Riverside Boutique hotel where you will spend the following 2-nights.

Throughout the next two days you are lucky enough to experience a guided tour, the Ganga Aarti ceremony from a boat and India's wonderful Holi Festival (Festival of Colours). You will be provided with colored powder to join in the festivities. 

Holi is a Hindu festival that marks the start of spring 

Celebrated across India, it's an ancient festival with the first mentions of it dating all the way back to a 4th century poem. It was even described in detail in a 7th century Sanskrit play called "Ratnavali," written by the Indian emperor Harsha. 

"Witness the beauty of the great cupid festival which excites curiosity as the townsfolk are dancing at the touch of brownish water thrown ... Everything is colored yellowish red and rendered dusty by the heaps of scented powder blown all over," wrote Harsha 

Holi may be traditionally Hindu, but everyone is equal during this holiday. Color hides all class lines, the caste system disappears, and foreigners join the locals. 

After an early breakfast you'll make your way to New Delhi. Although only 250km's the trip can take up to 6 hours. You'll stop en-route for a rest. On arrival in New Delhi you'll check in at the Four Points Sheradan Hotel where you'll have some free time before transferring to Nizamuddin for a qawwali experience. 

Qawwali is a form of Sufi devotional music. Originally performed at Sufi shrines or dargahs throughout South Asia, it gained mainstream popularity and International audience in late 20th century. 

As you enter Nizamuddin Basti, a settlement that sprang up around the dargah, you’re pulled into another time. The narrow streets are a riot of noise, colourful fabric, smoke from grills where meats are being cooked for diners who’ll throng the little eateries post-qawwali. You’ll find a number of stalls selling rose petals, chadars and incense sticks, which you can take into the dargah as offerings. 

Delhi is a place where time travel is possible. You can go from Old Delhi, where labourers haul sacks of spices and jewellers weigh gold on dusty scales, to modern New Delhi, with its colonial-era parliament buildings and penchant for high tea. Then on to the future: Gurgaon, a satellite city of sky-scraping offices and glitzy malls 

This afternoon your walk through the Sanjay Colony where you'll learn more about their work, religion and residential life. You'll end the tour with a vegetarian meal served by a local family at their home.
