The snow is melting. The tussock is waking. An invitation to open as the season turns.
We feel the call to leave our winter routines and go somewhere that demands our full attention. Somewhere cold, beautiful, and alive. The Pisa Conservation Area in October is exactly that — snow still on the high ridges, tussock stirring back to life, the sky enormous and clear.
This is a journey to embrace the mountain, dropping into presence while cultivating real mountaineering skills and experiences. Inner practice meets outdoor adventure — not as a metaphor, but as a lived reality.
Days begin with yoga led by Kike, incorporating morning pages, kriya, pranayama, meditation and asana. Then we go outside and let Steve teach us how to move through the alpine environment with skill, care and reverence. Evenings are slow and warm. No signal. No rush. The digital detox is included.
— Morning: Kriyas, meditation & Embodied Flow™ asana with Kike
— Daytime: Snowshoeing, skinning & mountain skills with Steve Parker PhD
— Afternoon: Cold plunges, nature contemplation & river time (opt-in)
— Evening: Slow evenings at the lodge — stargazing, herbal tonics, deep rest
This is a small, intentional gathering — 12 people maximum — held at Musterer's Lodge, a remote backcountry hut completely off the grid. No phone signal. No distractions. The kind of place that asks you to actually arrive. All activities are optional. You move at the pace that's yours.
The Pisa Conservation Area sits above the Cromwell Basin in Central Otago — a vast, tussock-covered plateau that rises to over 1,700 metres. In October, snow still holds on the high ridges, the tussock is gold and alive below, the sky the particular blue that only exists here.
Musterer's Lodge is a remote backcountry hut — simple, warm, and completely off the grid. No phone signal. No distractions. The kind of place that asks you to actually arrive.
