About this trip

We must risk delight. We must have the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless furnace of this world." -Jack Gilbert

Join Retreat Creator and Movement Coach Lila Heller and guest teachers Shannon Knorr,  Sound Healing Practitioner Natalie Lobue,  Artisan Educator and Natural dyer  Kristin Arzt and Acupuncturist Prema Arhin, for this healing journey into the hills of Mendocino, CA.

Spend 3 nights and 4 days with us delving into Movement, Meditation, Art, Journal Writing and Connection at the Bell Valley Retreat Center.   Spring is the perfect time to re-member and tap into your creative selves. We will use art, movement, sound and somatic practices to remind ourselves that life is still beautiful. In community, together, surrounded by nature and the flowering newness of spring.

Bell Valley Retreat Center is located just outside the town of Boonville. Nestled in a protected watershed, Bell Valley offers a refuge from the bustle of daily life and stress. There are six miles of trails that weave throughout the beauty and solitude of rolling oak hills and open meadows. The unique accommodations are thoughtfully integrated into the landscape some of which are located in the historic Toll House.

About Your Guides

Shannon Knorr

She believes Pilates and Yoga is for every body and that experiencing the healing power of movement positively impacts how you look and feel. Shannon fully believes that these practices are building a relationship. It is not a pill you take once and you are cured. We are learning to cultivate and deepen our relationship to ourselves, our bodies. All parts of ourselves. Learning to navigate the multiple layers of ourselves and our body. Emotional, physical, dream, mental, ancestral and spiritual bodies. Accessing our own resources and inner connections. The more we know and embody ourselves, the more we can feel the connection of ourselves to the greater universe and truly know our purpose.

The breath is our guide into the body

Past and future are in our minds, the body is NOW

Founder of Embody Studio. Shannon completed her Pilates certification in 2003 through PhysicalMind and Balanced Body. Gyrotonic Level 1 in 2005, and received her Dance/Movement Therapy degree in 2000. She completed a 500 hour Advanced Yoga Studies program completing her certification in Iyengar inspired Yoga at The Yoga Room, Berkeley in 2014.

Kristin Artz

Connect to the source of natural color in a natural dye workshop led by artist Kristin Arzt. You will learn to dye with sustainably harvested plants, food waste, medicinal plants and more to create a unique silk scarf.

Kristin Arzt is a natural dyer, educator, gardener and designer based in Oakland, California. Kristin believes that by exploring the collision of textiles, plants and sustainability, she can help make the study of natural dyes accessible to everyone through education and enthusiasm.

Natalie LoBue

Natalie also offers Group Sound Baths with Crystal Tones singing bowls. She plays an array of crystal singing bowls to help pour vibrations through the mind and body. This creates a space for deep relaxation, opening and release, stress relief, clarity and ease. We reach deep states of relaxation and allow the nervous system to heal, the parasympathetic nervous system to regenerate our bodies, and our mind to balance the right and left hemispheres of the brain.

Amazing trip, as always! The classes were transformative, food was amazing, location is perfect. thank you!
Lila did a fantastic job of creating a well balanced retreat. Holding time for movement, personal reflection and laughter. The facility was peaceful and beautiful. There were amazing views and hiking trails and the accommodations were rustic but very very comfortable. The food was healthy and delicious, i looked forward to every meal. I appreciated that folks could engage when they wanted and step back if they preferred. Looking forward to doing another retreat with Lila soon!

This was my fourth Chacala retreat with Lila. Each year, it’s been the best week of my year. Lila is a brilliant and radiant teacher, as is Jorg. Mar de Jade is heart-stoppingly beautiful, the organic food is healthy and delicious, the sound of the ocean waves so restorative — and the friendships that form and deepen each year at this magical retreat even more so. Can’t wait for next year!

Lila's retreats are always special and Mar de Jade was no exception. The staff was efficient, friendly and very helpful. Food was excellent and the weather cooperated also. Lila and Joerg had good chemistry and I came back in a lot better shape than when I arrived. The folks in our group were awesome.....saw old friends and met new ones.

It was a great week. A magical place with lots of movement and great food my body needed. It was a great balance of classes and then free time to explore as we wished. Being right on the ocean was wonderful. Truly a fantastic journey to the heart.
