A relaxed coastal adventure with history, charm, and a few hidden gems — Saltire style.
If you fancy a day out filled with coastal views, ancient history, and some of the prettiest villages in Scotland, this is the perfect escape. I’ll collect you from your hotel, cruise ship, airport — wherever you’re starting, and we’ll head north in either my luxury Mercedes V‑Class or BMW 7 Series. Both are built for comfort, so you can settle in and enjoy the scenery while I do the driving.
We’ll cross the Queensferry Crossing and make our way into the Kingdom of Fife — a region full of stories, landscapes, and more charm than it probably realises.
Dunfermline — Ancient Capital of Scotland
Our first stop is Dunfermline, once the capital of Scotland and the final resting place of many of our ancient kings. You’ll have time to explore the Abbey, wander the grounds, and visit the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie — the lad who went from Fife to becoming one of the world’s greatest philanthropists.
Falkland — A Village Frozen in Time
Next, we head to Falkland, home to the beautiful Renaissance palace and a village square that looks like it’s stepped straight out of a film set. (Outlander fans usually get a wee sparkle in their eye here.)
St Andrews — History, Golf & Sandy Shores
Then it’s onwards to St Andrews, a coastal town famous for its university, cathedral, medieval streets, and of course, the world‑renowned Old Course. You’ll have time to explore at your own pace — whether that’s wandering the ruins, strolling the beach, or taking a photo on the Swilcan Bridge like every golfer ever.
We’ll stop for lunch here too, with plenty of great options depending on what you fancy.
The East Neuk — Fishing Villages Full of Character
After St Andrews, we’ll follow the coastline through the East Neuk of Fife — a string of postcard‑perfect fishing villages. Think cobbled streets, colourful harbours, and seafood so fresh it practically introduces itself.
We’ll visit places like:
Anstruther — famous for its harbour and award‑winning fish and chips
Pittenweem — a working fishing village with real character
Crail — one of the prettiest spots on the coast, with a tiny harbour that’s impossible not to photograph
It’s a gentle, scenic wander through some of Scotland’s most charming coastal communities.
A wee note about flexibility
Nothing on this tour is set in stone. If you want to spend longer somewhere, skip a stop, add a detour, or grab a coffee with a view — just say. It’s your day, and I’m here to make it exactly what you want.
