This is a "Day in Provence", North Carolina style as we enjoy a day trip to Lavender Oaks Farm in Chapel Hill. A three hour bus trip on an early June day offers fields of lavender for cuttings from 9 varieties, browsing in the Lavender Boutique selling handmade lavender products, a "meet and greet" by the farm owner and your choice of a Lavender Box Lunch featuring Lavender based recipes, mai oui!
Following our visit to the farm, we enjoy another French inspired experience as we stop at the French Connection on the way home. Located in the historic Thompson House in Pittsboro, this unique shop has been a shopping destination since the year 2000. Offerings include French antiques, African Art, imported fabrics from France and West Africa and whimsical yard art from Mexico. There will also be time to wander through a few other specialty shops and galleries in town. You can end the day with a touch of Americana with a visit to the popular S&T Soda Shoppe!

If we are unable to cut in the fields due to rain, we can still enjoy the Boutique, lunch and learn about the farm operation, growing lavender and it's many uses from owner, Karen MacDonald in the dry Lavender Barn.
