Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we continue on to Louisville, KY, to begin our touring on “Museum Row” at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory to see the world’s most famous baseball bats being made. We’ll watch the smoke curl as the famous trademark is branded on the finished product and have the chance to hold bats used by the greatest players in the game. As you explore the museum’s collections, don’t miss the bat on which Babe Ruth carved a notch for twenty-one of his record-setting sixty home runs in 1927, Joe DiMaggio’s fifty-six-game-hit-streak bat, and Hank Aaron’s 700th-home-run bat. Then we are off to “Whiskey Row” for the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Here we will step back in time to 1783 and experience life and distilling as it was in the early days of the Republic. We’ll witness an artisanal distillery where we will learn the process of making bourbon, see it made right before our eyes, and have a tasting! The remainder of the day is yours to get to know this amazing city. Our downtown accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites (or similar) are conveniently located within walking distance of many great options to explore. “Museum Row” is also home to the Muhammad Ali Center, Frazier History Museum, art museums, and more, plus there are countless restaurants to choose from nearby!

Today we are off to the races as we make our way to the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs, the home of the legendary Kentucky Derby that serves as the first in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. It is the longest continually held sporting event in America and one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. A tour of the race track awaits us here, as does time to explore the museum’s exhibits celebrating the tradition, history, hospitality, and pride of the world-renowned horse race. We will also create our very own Kentucky Derby hat! After an exciting morning at the track, it’s time for a taste of authentic Kentucky bourbon at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse (subject to availability). We’ll walk in the footsteps of seven generations of bourbon master distillers as we take a behind-the-scenes look at all things Jim Beam. As we tour the facility, we will get a glimpse of every facet of the bourbon-making process, from the natural limestone water well all the way through the mashing, distilling, barreling, aging, and bottling. Of course we’ll enjoy some samples of premium bourbon while we’re there! Our day will come to an end with a delicious dinner and plenty of Southern hospitality before we settle in for a relaxing evening at the Hyatt Place (or similar) in Bowling Green.

Following breakfast we will visit the National Corvette Museum. Bowling Green is home to the world’s only Corvette assembly plant, and the nearby museum was established to celebrate the invention of “America’s Sports Car” and preserve its past, present, and future. At the museum, we’ll be awash in nostalgia as we view Corvettes in period settings, marvel at the ins and outs of Corvette design and development, and peer into the sinkhole that swallowed priceless Corvettes in 2014. Interactive trivia kiosks will test our knowledge, and there will even be a chance to sit behind the wheel of one of these classic cars! We’ll then begin our journey west toward home with a stop for lunch along the way. Keep your eyes peeled for the Gateway Arch as it welcomes us into St. Louis where our overnight accommodations and dinner await!
