I've been on two trips to the Dominican Republic with 4North and both were awesome! Matt at 4North is like the father/friend you never knew you needed. He is one of the most caring souls you'll ever meet. The trips with 4north are a great combo of community service, play, and relaxation. Matt puts in the extra work to do site inspections before booking them for a group to make sure they are safe and great for all types of people whether you want to play, party, or relax. The clinic was amazing. It ran so smoothly and we were able to help so many people in such a short amount of time due to the planning in advanced on behalf of 4north, medventure, and travel nurse takeover. The community was so thankful. The house in Baní is dormitory style, so make sure to bring earplugs as you would anywhere you stay in a dorm. Matt supplies each bed slot with a pillow, top sheet, towel, light, and phone charger which is always appreciated and a nice touch. I tend to bring a sarong when I travel to double as an extra towel and also a privacy curtain for my bed and that works great for these beds, too. Matt keeps the house clean and well equipped, even with mosquito zappers so you can bite back. I will say, the power tends to go out which means sometimes the washing machine doesn't work and the water might stop flowing, so just make sure you pack enough clothes and you'll be golden! Otherwise, staying with Matt is always an adventure and he'll show you spots around town that you would never find without a "local" like Matt!!

Working the clinic with the 4North Project alongside Matt was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Matt is so giving and kind. Everybody on the trip was incredibly welcoming and nice. Being able to volunteer among like-minded people who had the same vision in mind was rewarding. There was a great balance of work and fun. Being able to celebrate the success of the clinic was a great way to end the trip. I am so excited to continue to join the 4North Project on future trips. With how successful the first clinic was, I know the future is bright for 4North Project and they will impact many lives.

I had the opportunity to attend the first medical clinic with 4North Project. It was an amazing week! Everything from the clinic to the guest house to the pools, rooftop bar, adventures, and resort was truly amazing. The medical clinic was a huge success and ran so smoothly. It really reminded me why I wanted to be a nurse. The strangers I met on this trip turned into friends and everyone was so welcoming. This week was a very nice mix of work, play, and adventure. Thank you Matt for organizing such a trip, I can’t wait for the next one :)

Working the clinic was why I came to this trip. I was interested in learning about the community, the DR and serving with fellow like-minded travel medical professionals. Upon arriving I wished I was able to only attend the clinic and depart when it was over. I was not in the ‘same boat’ as most of the group that seemed to want to party and get ‘lit’. While I did feel welcomed by everyone on the trip, I wasn’t there to party and get wild. I also packed thinking we would have access to laundry. I was able to do some laundry by hand. I was SUPER grateful for the a/c in the bedrooms, charger boxes and earplugs that I brought. The lunch boxes were AMAZING and had plenty of food, I had extra to keep for snacks throughout the day. As a vegetarian I never felt hungry (except at the resort in puerto plata LOL). I was able to make some really valuable connections, but in the future would only be interested in returning if I could solely work the clinic/ be involved in the community/ see some places of historical significance/ sightseeing/ cultural experiences. Ok that was harsh I’m sorry but want to be as honest as possible! Thanks again!
