About your trip
Don't miss your chance to study latin jazz in the beautiful countryside of northern Spain! Our teachers will be the members of the astounding ensemble from Havana, Espirales. This trip is open to all musicians and non-musicians as well.
Specific styles we will study include cha cha cha, son, danzon, bolero, and various traditional rumba styles.
Mornings will be filled with lessons and ensembles, and rural activities in Murias in the afternoons. We will also take a day trip to Léon, famous for its Roman cathedral.

Meet Our Organizers
Morningside Music Tours is partnering with our longtime friend and the owner of the Havana Music School, Miguel Freijo. Miguel now resides in Murias, the town where he grew up and where he will host us.
Meet the Teachers
Formed in 2023, the fresh and dynamic Espirales Project brings together five remarkable musicians, each a graduate of the renowned Instituto Superior de Arte, who represent the next generation of master musicians, weaving together vibrant threads of latin jazz, classical finesse, and the island’s pulsating rhythms—a fusion that’s both daring and elegant.

Multi-instrumentalist Dan Fox started Morningside Music Studio in 2007 in Arlington, MA as a music school specializing in ensembles for adults. After bringing groups of students to summer workshops abroad in Genoa, Italy and Mallorca, Spain, it was clear that the combination of an immersive musical environment plus signature destinations made for a rich and fruitful creative experience!
