Today we embark on a journey that combines adventure and relaxation, where you'll experience the raw power of nature and the soothing serenity of geothermal waters with a volcano hike followed by.the Blue Lagoon.

A volcanic eruption is always a site to behold, and Iceland is on its third eruption along the same rift zone in as many years. Seeing liquid rock pouring out of the earth split apart by enormous geological forces is unforgettable. We'll make a pit stop for food and drinks (own expense) before hitting the trail to the eruption site. 

After our hike, it's time to unwind and rejuvenate. We head to one of Iceland's most famous attractions – the Blue Lagoon. Known for its milky blue geothermal waters, the Blue Lagoon is a haven of relaxation and wellness. We'll indulge in the warm, mineral-rich waters, which are said to have rejuvenating properties for the skin and body. 

With hearts and minds rejuvenated by the day's adventure, we'll return to our cozy home with a deeper appreciation for Iceland's natural wonders.

Our adventure begins bright and early as we set off on an action-packed day exploring Iceland's Golden Circle. Our stops include:

Thingvellir National Park: Our first stop takes us to the historical Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, we'll walk in the footsteps of ancient Vikings and witness the dramatic geological wonders of the area. The park is located in a rift valley, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are gradually pulling apart. 

Geysir Geothermal Area: Next, we head to the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to bubbling hot springs and, of course, the legendary Geysir itself. Get ready to witness the awe-inspiring eruptions of Strokkur, shooting scalding water high into the air!

Gullfoss Waterfall: Our Golden Circle tour wouldn't be complete without visiting the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall. As we approach, the sound of thundering water echoes through the air, building anticipation for the spectacular view.  

Stop at Fridheimar: A Greenhouse Experience

After an exhilarating day exploring the Golden Circle's natural wonders, it's time for a unique and delicious stop at Fridheimar, a charming tomato greenhouse restaurant. Nestled amidst the stunning Icelandic countryside, this family-run establishment offers a truly enchanting dining experience. 

Kerid Crater: As we continue our journey, we'll make a stop at Kerid Crater, a stunning volcanic crater lake that boasts a vibrant, turquoise-colored lake within its caldera. We'll have the chance to walk along the crater's rim, taking in the breathtaking views

We'll head towards the Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River, located in the picturesque Hengill geothermal area. Before we begin the hike, we'll make a quick stop at a local store in the nearby town to pick up some delicious goodies (own expense) to enjoy later at the hot springs.

The hike to Reykjadalur is approximately 3-4 kilometers (1.8-2.5 miles) and takes around 1.5-2 hours, depending on your pace and the trail conditions. As you hike, you'll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including geothermal areas, rolling hills, and bubbling hot springs.

Upon reaching the Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River, we'll find a cozy spot to relax and enjoy our scrumptious goodies while soaking in the warm and soothing thermal waters, surrounded by Iceland's breathtaking wilderness.

After our hike we'll stop at a local resturaunt for a well deserved beer and munchies (own expense).  Then head back to our accommodation to unwind and prepare for a light happy hour at the house.
