About this trip

Come camp with us at Toad Hill to celebrate the summer solstice! Together we'll explore the hidden gems of Evans Notch situated on the border of South West Maine & North East New Hampshire. Here we'll escape the hustle and bustle of vacationers in the more traveled areas of the White Mountains. With yoga & meditation everyday, guided hiking, and a variety of lodging styles, we'll keep things simple and let nature be our teacher for the weekend.  This retreat has been developed with the beginner camper in mind! This is a fully eco-primitive, off the grid retreat center with composting toilets, spring water, and hand built tipis, yurts, treehouses, and other fun lodging choices.

Here's a basic itinerary:

Friday June 22:
Friday Night Fire Ceremony
Check into your tipi/yurt/treehouse or set up your own tent After getting settled join us for an evening campfire gathering to meet the other campers! We'll set intentions, meditate, and enjoy an evening meal. Dinner will be served at 8pm

Saturday June 23

Explore Evans Notch
Wake up in our secluded escape with breathtaking scenery and fresh mountain air.
(Option to watch the sunrise)
Enjoy a hot cooked breakfast
Practice yoga and meditation outside (weather dependant).
Pack our day packs and head to Evan's notch to hike one of many trail options (TBD)
Afterwards we'll head back to Toad Hill to enjoy some free time, Eat Dinner in the evening, and spend time around the fire.

Sunday July 22nd

Explore Toad Hill
Enjoy a leisure breakfast followed by yoga and meditation. We'll spend some time exploring the 45 acres of Toad Hill's private trail system, pack up our camp and head home as early as you choose.

YOGA DETAILS:  (please bring your own mat!)
While yoga is often considered a physical practice of creating shapes with our bodies that stretch our muscles and work with our breath, we want to encourage you to consider the full picture of what yoga truly is. Yoga is a discipline to improve or develop one's inherent power in a balanced manner. It offers the means to attain complete self-realization. In this framework our entire weekend is infact a practice of yoga. From the moment we meet one another and set intentions, to the the first steps on the summit of a mountain we are practicing yoga.  This means, that while we will offer the asana (the physical practice of yoga) throughout the weekend, please remember that everything is subject to weather and trail conditions.  While our intention is to lead your through several full vinyasa/flow style practices, based on the variability of the outdoors our yoga class could range from a mat practice on the ground, to a standing practice with our boots on under the canopy of the Toad Hill Barn, to a stretch session in snuggled in a yurt  with our sleeping bags on. Most of all every physical yoga session will be all levels so we invite all people to participate  We appreciate your willingness to leave all expectations at the door and give into the flow of our weekend adventure!

HIKING DETAILS: This is all levels beginner friendly retreat. Our hike on Saturday (TBD) will likely be moderately strenuous, up to 7 miles round trip. Please be prepared to hike on steep and rocky terrain while carrying a day pack with snacks and layers. While we encourage hiking novices to sign up, we recommend that you be in good athletic shape and capable of continuous activity for at least four hours at a time. We had a great time. The Yoga classes were fantastic! Helpful for before and after skiing. The hot tub was great, as well as the breakfast. I'm definitely thinking about going on this trip again next year.

They were awesome. Amazing accommodations. Very thoughtful and responsive organizers. I don’t think the breakfast service the hotel service uses is good. Better off getting coffee and bagels elsewhere. Would do again.
Great weekend getaway packed with yoga, tasty cider, and a fun day on the mountain. I only wish the trip had been longer! Partnering relaxing yoga sessions, spa treatment and hot tub action, and a full day of snowboarding is a match made in heaven. Can't wait to invite more friends to join on this trip again next year.

Stowe Ski & Yoga retreat was amazing! There were 4 yoga classes offered and a day of skiiing. This was the perfect amount and balance for a 2 night trip. The value was great ! Dinner and 2 breakfasts were included. The hostess/organizer, Laura was awesome! Accommodating, informative, hospitable and enjoyable. I can’t wait for my next Backcountry yoga trip !
