Celebrate the Summer Solstice with us at Windsurfer Beach on Pineview Reservoir! We’ll kick off the day with a rejuvenating SUP Yoga session on the tranquil water, followed by a delicious picnic on the beach and 108 Sun Salutations. Don’t forget to bring your own board or rent one and bring it along to the beach for a serene experience on the water. Join us for a day of sunshine, yoga, and celebration!


This retreat is being led by Heather Bloomquist, simultaneously with Bethany Forest up in Bear Lake to tap into the global energy and practice of 108 Sun Salutations that are practiced worldwide on this day.  



About the Sun Salutations

 Why 108?

The number 108 holds deep sacred significance across many spiritual traditions:

  • There are 108 Upanishads and 108 Tantras, ancient texts that explore philosophy and consciousness.
  • In Ayurveda, there are 108 sacred points on the body that are believed to influence energy flow.
  • Mala beads, used for meditation and mantra recitations, traditionally have 108 beads.
  • Astronomically, the distance from the Earth to the Sun is approximately 108 times the Sun's diameter.

A 108 Sun Salutations practice is traditionally done to honor the changing of the seasons and is practiced worldwide as a moving meditation. This sacred practice connects breath to movement, allowing you to tune into your body, your breath, and your higher self, or Source, in whatever way resonates with you.

The internal heat generated during this practice is believed to be deeply cleansing and purifying, offering an opportunity to connect to a profound sense of self.

We’ll complete this challenge in four sets of 27, with rest breaks in between. Don't worry – an experienced instructor will be there to guide you every step of the way. Challenge yourself like never before and embrace the power of your first 108 Sun Salutations!

About the SUP Yoga

 Join us for a peaceful and rejuvenating SUP Yoga session on the lake! We’ll begin with a relaxing paddle across the serene waters, immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature. Once we've settled, we'll transition into a gentle yoga practice on our SUP boards, connecting breath to movement while floating on the water.


No experience with SUP Yoga? No problem! Our experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step, helping you find your balance and move with ease. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a first-timer, you'll feel supported and empowered as you embrace this unique practice on the water. Let the lake’s tranquility and the flow of your practice carry you to a deeper sense of calm and connection.

About the Picnic Lunch

 After our invigorating practice, we’ll gather for a nourishing picnic on the beach to fuel our bodies and continue enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Our picnic lunch features wholesome, delicious options, including a Mediterranean style sammie or refreshing pasta salad (with gluten-free options available), vibrant fresh fruit, crunchy veggies, and creamy hummus. We’ll also have a variety of snacks and beverages to keep you energized and hydrated throughout the day. Perfect for relaxing and replenishing after a morning of movement, our picnic offers the ideal balance of nourishment and relaxation in the great outdoors.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice with SUP Yoga + 108 Sun Salutations

 10:00 AM: We’ll begin at Windsurfer Beach at Pineview Reservoir, where we’ll embark on a peaceful paddle across the sparkling water, soaking in the beauty around us. Afterward, we’ll return to our boards for a serene SUP Yoga session, connecting to the morning sun and stunning views.


11:00 AM: Time to challenge your balance and find a new perspective as we flow through simple poses on our SUP boards. It’s amazing what you’ll discover your body can do on the water!


12:30 PM: After our practice, we’ll gather on the beach for a wholesome picnic lunch, savoring the delicious, nourishing offerings while basking in the sun and relaxation.


2:00 PM: We’ll transition into our 108 Sun Salutations, practicing in four sets of 27, with breaks to rest and reset. This moving meditation on the beach will leave you feeling rejuvenated and connected.


Once our Sun Salutations are complete, we’ll wind down with a short meditation and time for reflection, letting the calm of the day settle into our minds and hearts.
