We’ll kick off our adventure with an upstream boat ride in Vistas Valley. Once we’re back on land, we’ll hike to our first camping spot next to Visttasjohka River. 

The day’s hike will cover 12 to 17 kilometres (seven to 11 miles), depending on where the boat drops us. Expect varied terrain, with some uphill and downhill trekking as we move deeper into the valley.

After walking through a birch tree forest, we’ll pass the Vistas STF cabin and step into the high alpine tundra. From here, the trail to Nallo unfolds with wide-open mountain views. 

Prepare to hike 14 to 16 kilometres (eight to 10 miles). The terrain is steady, with a few stream crossings along the way.

The day’s trail will take us across a rocky plateau surrounded by high summits, about 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) above sea level. We’ll set up camp next to the Sälka hut, where you’ll have access to restrooms, a sauna and a small mountain shop to restock any essentials.

As we leave the dry alpine landscape behind, the terrain softens into open grassy slopes dotted with low-growing birch trees. We’ll hike up to 10 kilometres (about six miles).

We’ll follow a stretch of Kunglseden (The King’s Trail), one of Sweden’s most iconic long-distance paths. Along the way, you’ll take in panoramic views of Drakryggen (the Dragon’s Back) and Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest peak at 2,096 metres (6,876 feet).

The trail is well-trodden and relatively smooth, covering 11 kilometres (nearly seven miles) through striking autumn scenery.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off on our 14-kilometre (around eight miles) trek to Kebnekaise Mountain Station. Once there, you can shower and unwind in a relaxing sauna. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a well-earned two-course dinner in the station’s cosy restaurant—followed by our first night in real beds since our journey started.

We’ll head back to civilisation along a classic trail. After hiking eight kilometres (five miles), we’ll board a boat and glide through the Láddjuvággis delta, soaking in the scenery as we go. We’ll then part ways with the mountains and walk the final six kilometres (just under four miles) to Nikkaluokta.

We’ll drive a van to our hotel in Kiruna, where we’ll cap off our adventures with a farewell dinner.

Depending on your departure, feel free to relax at the hotel’s spa or explore Kiruna’s new city centre, where you can learn how mining operations pushed the town to relocate.

We’ll then drive you to the airport or train station before saying our final goodbyes.
