We’re doing European Summer, NomaTribe style — without having to take vacation days ☀️🇨🇭
For two weeks, we’ll call Charmey home, staying in a beautiful Swiss-style villa surrounded by mountains and nature. Think slow Swiss mornings, productive afternoons, long summer evenings, and weekends exploring the Alps.
With comfortable spaces to work, nature right outside our door, and a Coop supermarket just 8 minutes away, everything you need for a productive and refreshing stay is close by.
On weekends, we’ll explore the surrounding mountains and villages, hikes departing from the Vounetz summit and possibly beautiful sunsets too. We will also visit the town of Gruyères and its castle, and a stop at the chocolate museum.
Our highlight will be the Gastlosen hike, an approximately 11 km, moderate trail with views of a spectacular mountain range known for its dramatic limestone peaks, also nicknamed as the “Swiss Dolomites”
This isn’t a hardcore hiking trip, but it is planned for people that like walking, nature, and being active outdoors!
Most of our participants work on Eastern Time, which means that while we’re in Switzerland, our workday will fall mostly in the afternoon and evening.
🇺🇸 Eastern Time → 🇨🇭 Switzerland: 3 PM – 11 PM
This gives us plenty of time to enjoy Switzerland outside of work. ☀️ We’ll have our mornings free to enjoy the town, move our bodies, have breakfast together, and explore nearby spots and trails. And since we’ll be there at the beginning of summer, the days will be at their longest, with daylight lasting until around 9–10 PM — perfect for making the most of the long summer evenings too.
In the afternoon, we’ll transition into work mode together, with plenty of shared spaces at the villa to settle in and get productive.
We’ll be staying in Charmey, a beautiful mountain village in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, surrounded by the Fribourg Pre-Alps.
Charmey is the perfect base for experiencing a slower, more local side of Switzerland — think traditional chalets, green valleys, mountain views, fresh air, and plenty of nature right outside your door.
The village is easily accessible by public transportation from major Swiss cities, with Bulle just 30 minutes away. It’s also within walking distance of the Gruyère Baths, one of the region’s standout thermal and wellness experiences.
Getting there:
✈️ From Geneva Airport: approximately 2 hours
✈️ From Zurich Airport: approximately 2.5–3 hours
✈️ From Basel Airport: approximately 2.5 hours
We’ll share more details and recommended transportation options after booking, so you can easily plan your journey to Charmey.
You can choose between Private or Shared Accommodation (twin-bed room)
Designated quiet space with high-speed internet
Wednesdays are for Family Brunch or Dinner — we bring the ingredients, you bring the good vibes (and your inner chef!).
All our Tribe Leaders have extensive local knowledge of the city/country. Think of it as travelling with a local friend.
Surprise goodies!
We’ll take the cable car from Charmey and head out on a beautiful mountain trail. Once at the top, there are also optional activities available at an additional cost, including paragliding, zip-lining
On our second weekend, we’ll have a mobility pass that gives us more flexibility to explore the area, including getting to the Gastlosen and nearby medieval towns.
Swiss Dolomites: Our highlight of the trip! We'll reach by bus and cable car before setting off on an approximately 11 km hike, around 4 hours, with +780 m of elevation gain.
We also include community activities like Noma Circles, Skillshares, and Noma Brews. We will adapt them to European time!
Trip begins and ends in Charmey, Switzerland
(if applicable)
Except as specified above, daily food is not included. However, we do have a communal kitchen on-site.
🔷 Saturday, June 26: Arrival day! Check-in, start exploring the town, and end the day with a traditional Swiss dinner to welcome the group and kick off the trip together.
🔷 Sunday, June 27: Vounetz! We’ll take the cable car up from Charmey and explore a beautiful mountain trail, with the option to enjoy additional activities like paragliding or zip-lining at an extra cost.
We’ll make the most of our mornings — nature walks, thermal baths, exploring surrounding towns, and enjoying NomaTribe signature activities. 🌿
Since our workday starts in the afternoon, we’ll support each other in getting back to the villa and into work mode after lunch. We’ll get to know everyone’s schedules so we can make the most of our time together while still respecting everyone’s work commitments.
This weekend, we’ll have a Pocket Pass that includes our transportation, giving us more flexibility to explore the surrounding area.
🔹 Saturday, July 3rd: We’ll take approximately 45 minutes of transportation to reach the Swiss Dolomites and tackle the 11 km Gastlosen trail, with around 4 hours of hiking and +780 m of elevation gain. Expect spectacular views, dramatic mountain peaks, and one of the highlights of the trip!
🔹 Sunday, July 4th: We’ll visit the charming medieval town of Gruyères, explore its historic streets and castle, and enjoy some of the local highlights, including the lake and chocolate museum
We’ll continue working from the Swiss Alps, making the most of being outside our usual routine while still staying focused on our work and commitments.
By now, we’ll be fully settled into our Swiss rhythm — slow mornings, productive afternoons, and plenty of time to enjoy everything Switzerland has to offer.
And yes, we’ll definitely be indulging in the essentials: cheese, chocolate, and wine.
🔹 Friday, July 9th: We’ll have an intentional closing ceremony to reflect on the experience, celebrate the connections we’ve made, and close the trip together.
🔹 Saturday, July 10th: Checkout and goodbye :( Time to pack up and say our goodbyes — until the next adventure!
