Getting around: Tanzania has, in general, amiable and peaceful people. You might hear ‘karibu’ a lot, which means ‘welcome’ and is a sign of cultural hospitality. This invitation can be for entering a shop or house or sharing a meal. Feel free to accept or decline politely with ‘asante sana’ (thanks a lot). As in many impoverished countries, where income gaps are huge, sensible caution should always be exercised. Before leaving your hotel, get advice on places to visit and avoid isolated areas if you are alone, especially after dark.
Photography Please be sensitive when photographing people. It is courteous to ask permission before snapping away.
Health Requirements Preventative measures should be taken against malaria. It is advised that you consult a physician regarding malaria prophylactics and other vaccinations. Please note that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for all travelers coming from a yellow-fever infected country in Africa or Americas, unless you stayed in airport transit. .

Arrival at JRO
Your professional driver guide will be there to meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport whenever you arrive, smiling a warm welcome. Sit back and unwind as he drives you to your accommodation in Arusha, Tanzania, the country's self-described "safari capital." You will get a glimpse of this big, active, commercial metropolis during the hour-long drive to the hotel. Your pre-safari briefing might happen today, depending on when you arrive; if not, it will happen first thing tomorrow morning.
