To celebrate Texas Wine Month the Black Wineo is hosting  the "Taste of Texas” wine tour that will take guests from the hustle and bustle of Houston to the heart of Texas Hill Country. This curated tour promises a day of luxurious experiences, exceptional Texas wines, and scenic beauty. Guests will  kick off the journey with onboard morning mimosas, wine-themed games and fun trivia , all while learning about the rich history of Fredericksburg. The adventure continues with exclusive tastings and unforgettable experiences at some of Texas's top wineries. The all inclusive tour features immersive wine education and tastings, a hands-on visit to a production facility, and a Blacksmith shop tasting experience. Guests will take part in a skill-building workshop and meet key Texas winemakers. The day also includes a Tex-BBQ lunch, time to explore and shop along Main St. in Downtown Fredericksburg, plus receive a welcome bag filled with essentials to commemorate the experience.

Payments are the guests responsibility and each guest will receive a reminder email correspondence 3 days prior to each payment due date. Rise and Shine as our tour is set for a 6am departure from our designated pickup spot and an estimated return departure no later than 7pm from Fredericksburg to return to Houston. The approximate time of arrival in Houston is estimated at no later than 12pm.. The estimated travel time is 4 hours (238 miles) one way. A bathroom/coffee break will be included on both routes.

Our first stop on our tour features a day at the production facility of husband and wife duo Elisa & Chris who own Elisa Christopher Winery. Chris and Elisa purchased their 43 acre property in 2022 and hit the ground running on building a production facility and tiny house tasting room.  Chris and Elisa are passionate about making traditional method sparkling wine in Texas. They’ve invested in champagne equipment from France and for neck freezing, riddling and disgorging and are excited to be pioneers of mechanization to sparkling wine in Texas.  They believe we need more sparkling wine as every day has an element in it to celebrate. 

Nothing like Texas BBQ. We make a quick 30 minute lunch stop at everyone's favorite Leroy's Tex-Mex BBQ for a bite of some of Texas' culinary staples. Guests will choose from a catered box lunch with options that include either a chopped beef or smoked BBQ turkey sandwich with choice of borracha beans, potato salad or chips. Guests with dietary restrictions will be able to substitute for a vegan (salad) option. If time permits guests can stop into Jenschke Orchards pumpkin patch which is located on the same property.  

What makes a wine ready for drinking? In this 60-minute skill-building class, you will taste four library William Chris wines which are at different points in their lifespan, all with the purpose of tasting for “readiness” and peak drinking time. William Chris Vineyards Director of Education, Kelsey Kramer, will lead considering a wine’s purpose, structure, and overall balance with the ultimate goal of being able to assess when a wine is at its peak drinking potential. 

Tour guests will enjoy an unsupervised 90 minute stop along Main St. in Downtown Fredericksburg. Main St. is the center of the action in Fredericksburg, where you can find more than 150 shops, boutiques and art galleries as well as dozens of restaurants, wine tasting rooms, a brewpub, two museums and more.  Shopping has been a reason folks come to Fredericksburg for years - as shops on Main Street are all locally owned and operated by people that call Fredericksburg home. Franchises and chain stores are not allowed in the National Historic District (which runs along Main Street) so rest assured that your Fredericksburg shopping experience will be unique. 

Meierstone Vineyards is a family-owned winery in the Texas Hill Country with deep Texas roots. The tasting room resides on the 555-acre Meierstone Ranch, a fifth generation working farm and ranch in Stonewall, Texas.  Winemaker, Krystal Patel believes in making small-batch, premium wine using sustainable processes wherever possible, from environmentally friendly farming practices, winemaking processes, and barrel aging programs. We'll spend an afternoon in the Blacksmith shop to learn her practices, enjoy leather branding and sip her award-winning wines.

We can't share everything just yet, but stay tuned for a special stop along the tour. Guests will have limited time to taste and tour at this winery and tasting room slated with a cool underground cellar and picturesque views.
