Day 3
Montessori’s living legacy
Visit Perugia’s historic Santa Croce Montessori School. Learn about Montessori’s association with the school, view historic furniture and materials, discover the Montessori District and observe a lesson in the beautiful music room. This afternoon become a learner yourself through a relaxed watercolour experience — a chance to experiment, create and enjoy the process.

A feast for the senses
Visit the Batta Family Olive Farm to explore olive groves, discover how olive oil is produced and enjoy a tasting. Share a traditional Italian lunch prepared by the family, taking time to appreciate regional flavours, genuine hospitality and the pleasure of learning through the senses.

Day 5
Discovering Montessori’s beginnings
Journey to Chiaravalle, Montessori’s birthplace. See where she was born and wander streets linked to the lives of local people in her time, including Via G. Marconi, once walked by women employed in the town’s cigarette industry. Browse a bookshop or enjoy gelato before travelling towards the Adriatic Sea for lunch.

People, purpose and pioneering work
Explore Villa Montesca and the story of the Franchetti family’s connection with Montessori’s early professional life. Then discover Umbrian craftsmanship at a traditional weaving house, including its connections with local women and children, before visiting the historic Grifani Donati Printing House.

As we share our Farewell Dinner together, let’s recall the adventures and learnings we experienced.
