Our mission is to getting you off the beaten track and into the mountains, experiencing the best the Andes has to offer and catching a glimpse of the REAL Peru.

TL;DR - This is the company you're looking for! The long story- My partner and I signed up for the 5D Inca Trail Trek with Apus Peru based on a friend's recommendation after she had an amazing trip with them. The prices were slightly higher but definitely comparable to other companies we looked at, so we went ahead and booked! We booked a private luxury trek as it was for my birthday and, unbeknownst to me at the time, my engagement! The communication from the company leading up to the trip and the briefing upon our arrival to Cusco were great! The first two days of the trek, we were consistently impressed by our guide, Greco, as well as the chef and porter team! Greco paid constant attention to our comfort and safety. He has a wealth of knowledge about the trail, history, and ecology, and I really appreciated him sharing his culture and experiences with me as well. (It's possibly I ask too many questions everywhere I go). The food was abundant and delicious! And the porters are incredibly hard working and very respectful. Unfortunately, we did not make the entire journey. My partner started feeling a little sick on day 1 and it progressively got worse through day 2. After camping at high altitude on day 2, things got bad and we decided to turn around. Apus Peru is an awesome tour company when things are going well; but, when things are not, that's when you realize how no other company could compare! They saved our trip. Greco was able to find a horse for my partner for a portion of the trek back to get him down faster, and then a little motor-cart. The team back in Cusco worked behind the scenes to get us train tickets and additional hotel reservations. We made it to Aguas Calientes and my partner was able to recover enough that we could at least go see Machu Picchu two days later! Greco gave an unforgettable tour of Machu Picchu! He also captured our engagement on top of Huayna Picchu (I highly recommend that add-on!). Upon returning to Cusco (back up in altitude), my partner's condition got worse again and I took him to a clinic (more like a hospital) the following day. He had a multitude of complications where high altitude had exasperated a viral infection. The clinic did not have anyone who could speak English and progressively worked with us less and less through Google Translate as time went on. I reached out to the Apus Peru manager, Julio, at 7:00pm on a Sunday night on the off chance he could at least confirm we were in a safe and reputable clinic. Within one hour (on a Sunday night!) Julio was at the door helping us! He translated with the medical staff for us and helped to create a plan for my partner's treatment. He then showed back up at 8am the next morning to translate with the specialist! He then proceeded to check in with us via WhatsApp for the next few days. Apus Peru had already gotten us back to Cusco safely on the last day of our scheduled journey; at that point, their work was "done." To provide that level of care for us beyond our journey was completely unexpected and appreciated in a way I cannot describe. Being that sick and vulnerable in a foreign country can be very uncomfortable and Julio provided us with support and a sense of security. This is why I would choose Apus Peru, again and again, without hesitation. They truly care for their customers above and beyond any requirement! Oh, and Sara, our travel consultant, was fantastic throughout the process and wrote a great letter for us to include in our insurance claim!

Wonderful trip. Apus Peru was a great agency to work with for set up and implementation. The experience with the Porters, Guide and excellent meals exceeded our expectations at every turn (or should I say uphill climb?). The trek was indeed a one of kind life experience facilitated by the crew. The acclimatization tour suited us and our energy levels well.

Excellent trek. Sarah from Apus Peru did a great job of managing our logistics and keeping us informed every (literal) step of the way. Our guides Greco and Marco were incredibly kind, knowledgeable , helpful, and prepared. I was so grateful to both of them for their positivity and expertise. Would definitely recommend Apus Peru to friends looking for a backpacking trip through the Andes.

Apus Peru is a top notch group! Unfortunately our trip around Ausangate was cut short due to an illness with someone in our group. Apus Peru was prepared to deal with the situation and got us out safely. They also took great care with us to reschedule the remainder of our time to make the most effective use of the rest of our vacation to the area. Hebert and Henna went above and beyond to help us. We were sad to leave the Ausangate route because up to that point the comfort of the camp facilities and the food they prepared was beyond expectations!

This was exactly what we hoped it would be and more. Our tour guide and driver were fantastic and so flexible and caring! We felt well taken care of for the whole trip which allowed me to relax and just enjoy rather than worry about the details. We got a great mix of seeing the sights, learning about the history, and meeting people who live in Peru today. Our guide was very honest which we appreciated and didn't try to sugarcoat or play up any of the histories. Both our guide on Maniti and our guide, Mario with Apus Peru were incredibly knowledgable and excellent at their job. What an adventure! Thank you so much.
