About this trip

Our destination: the Badrinath Himayalan Valley located in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. Situated a few kilometers from the Indo-Tibet border, Badrinath offers a unique opportunity to immerse in both Indian and Tibetan culture.

Daily we get to hike along the banks of the Holy Alaknanda River, see Himalayan peaks and visit sacred temples rich in myth and Hindu teachings.  The Alakanadna River is a sacred river, a glacial ,pure and pristine river situated at 11,000 feet elevation.

Visit one of  India's most holiest temple, Badrimath, as it is part of the four major, Char Dham, Himalayan pilgrimage sites of which every Hindu hopes to visit. This Holy temple represents and aspect of liberation for all beings, and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

This was a trip of a life time and for an extremely affordable cost. We visited so many temples and even participated in rituals which probably wouldn't have happened on a regular tour. It was a very special experience. Our days were very full and enriching. It was life changing!
Wow! where do I start? This was my first trip to India, a destination that had always been on my bucket list. I had met Maria Garre at a local yoga studio via a weekend workshop about Ayurveda. So when this retreat popped up on my radar I knew I could not pass it up. This is exactly the India experience I was looking for, and was not disappointed. I traveled on my own, felt safe the entire time, and I met such a great group of ladies. Each day started with meditation on the Ganga followed by yoga in the studio located right in the hotel. Then each afternoon included some sort of excursion- visiting temples, hiking, shopping where the locals shop, white water rafting, or indulging in Ayurvedic spa treatments. The 10 days are well planned - and each excursion is optional- but I took advantage of each one! If you are looking to experience India and all of its wonderful chaos, (and sacred cows) I would highly recommend this trip. It felt like walking through the pages of a National Geographic magazine. Namaste Maria for an amazing experiance - one I will never forget, and Ganesh willing, get to repeat!

Thank you for making the old new again, every time. While I could travel alone, it’s better with you & the exceptional people you bring together. I highly recommend Nivana Palace, Sagar Tours & Sacred India Retreats for keeping us all at ease. Grateful the retreats are sacred & fun. Tip: never forego a chance to jump in the Ganga. It could change your life.
