About this trip

Tend the Inner Fire

Rest. Receive. Restore.

Are you longing for deep rest?
A moment to exhale. A soft landing for your nervous system. A sacred pause from the noise of the world so you can return to the quiet wisdom within.

Tend the Inner Fire is a deeply nourishing Somatic Yoga, Restorative Reiki & Sound Retreat devoted to embodied rest, energetic renewal, and remembrance. This is not a retreat of striving, fixing, or becoming. It is an invitation to soften… to listen… and to gently return to the steady glow already living inside you.

Held on the sacred lands and tranquil waters of Sacred Waters Retreat Center, this immersive experience weaves together Reiki-infused Restorative Yoga, somatic healing, mindfulness, ritual, sound medicine, and deep nervous system care.

Together, Stephanie and Sara create a sanctuary where healing is approached not as something to force, but as something remembered. Stephanie’s grounding presence and heart-centered devotion to yoga and sound healing invite you into balance, connection, and inner harmony. (Ananda Industries) Sara’s work as Sonic Sorceress brings the alchemy of vibration, ritual, and crystalline frequencies into the space—guiding you into resonance through sound, stillness, and soul remembrance. (Sonic Sorceress)

As the body softens into supported stillness again and again, something ancient begins to awaken.

The breath deepens.
The mind quiets.
The spirit remembers.

This retreat is for those longing to release the weight of constant doing and reconnect with the sacred intelligence of the body. Through rest, frequency, movement, and presence, we create space for your inner landscape to recalibrate naturally—without force, without performance, without pressure.

You are not asked to become anything here.
Only to arrive.

As spring softens the earth and the light lingers a little longer each evening, you’ll be invited to listen beyond words—to the subtle language of sensation, intuition, breath, and vibration.

To the whisper of the trees.
The songs carried across the water.
The ancient intelligence held within your own body.

This is the fire that does not consume, but warms.
The flame tended through presence rather than effort.
The sacred ember of your own aliveness.

In rest, something opens.
In stillness, something remembers.

And beneath all the noise of the world, you may just hear the quiet truth calling you home to yourself… home to Tend the Inner Fire—gathered beside the hearth of the place we have come to love so deeply: Sacred Waters Retreat Center, where forest, water, warmth, and stillness hold space for remembrance.

From Sacred Waters about the Nourishment:

In a world where meals have become increasingly rushed and ready-made, we consider meals an opportunity to be intentional about our health, wellness, and impact on the environment.  Home-cooked meals made with care and quality ingredients taste better, are more nutritious and are more fulfilling to prepare. We aim to create exciting meals that nourish our guests, encourage them to expand their palates, and promote an enjoyable dining experience through sharing it with others.

Using Organic Products

It is important to us to be mindful of our impact on the environment. In an effort to play our part in protecting the planet, and provide food that is healthy and rich in nutrients, we avoid products where we can that have involved the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, growth hormones or antibiotics.

Buying Local

With modern conveniences it is easy to avoid thinking about where the food we eat actually comes from, and the time and effort that goes into growing vegetables or raising livestock. We aspire to help ourselves and other make the connection with the origins of our food by purchasing local meat and produce whenever possible.

Reducing Waste

Landfills are not an ideal solution for long-term waste management. We try to limit what we are contributing to landfills by buying items in bulk to limit the amount of packaging involved; we compost food scraps made in the kitchen for our garden; we recycle all bottles, cans, cardboard, glass, and paper; when saving food in the kitchen we utilize reusable containers; we are conscious about the amount of food being prepared and use appropriate scraps to make stock for soups and sauces.

Using Whole Ingredients

Much of the nutrition found in food can be lost through excessive processing. We make as much as possible from scratch using whole foods. In this way we can have homemade meals that are more nutritious and taste better too! We routinely make our own bread, granola, salad dressings, sauces, desserts and more.

The Sacred Waters Land Acknowledgment

The Sacred Waters Center would like to acknowledge that our campus is standing on the unceded land of the first people of this area, the Twana-Skokomish Tribe, past and present.  As a ministry of the Episcopal Church, we confess that our church has contributed to, or was complicit in, the process of colonization of the Indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere.  While those of us alive today are not responsible for what our ancestors did in the past, we are responsible for what we do today, knowing that the colonization process is still in place, and the effects of it are still felt by Indigenous people.

What is now known as the Skokomish Tribe actually was primarily composed of Twana Indians, a Salishan people whose aboriginal territory encompassed the Hood Canal drainage basin in western Washington State. The tribe’s first recorded direct contact with European culture came in 1792 and resulted in a devastating smallpox epidemic that took the lives of many. There were nine Twana communities, the largest being known as the Skokomish, or “big river people.” The Twana subsisted on hunting, fishing and gathering activities, practicing a nomadic life-style during warmer weather and resettling at permanent sites during the winter. Twana descendants live on the Skokomish Reservation, and all have become known as the Skokomish Tribe.

Sacred Waters is specifically located on ancestral hunting & fishing land between "brush hanging over" cove and "view across the canal" in Twana dialect.  We honor with gratitude Indigenous people for their resilience, faithfulness, wisdom, and respect for the Earth and all of creation, which we seek to emulate.  We invite our guests to join us in nurturing a just relationship with Indigenous tribal people, particularly our neighbors, the Skokomish Indian Tribe, and are called to stand with them in their myriad struggles to recover from the effects of genocide and enforced assimilation into the dominant society.
