Travel with Terri McDermott - CMA, IPC, E-RYT 200

With over 20 years of combined experience, Terri McDermott continues to pursue an active interdisciplinary career in health and wellness through the teachings and study of holistic care, meditation and yoga.

Education in Health, Wellness and Yoga

A Michigan native, Terri received her C.M.A. in Medical Assistance through training provided in Royal Oak, Michigan and her ERYT 200 through Jenny Lintvedt, Yoga Teacher Trainer in Traverse City, Michigan. Throughout her continued studies and employment in this area, Terri has taken further trainings with known teachers such as Sean Corn, Joe Barnett, Kathryn Buddig, Dr. James Lawrence and Mugs McConnell. She is currently pursuing her RYT 500 through studies with Mugs McConnell in a 300-hour program over the course of 2019.

Personal Training & Wellness Programs

Terri understands the importance of incorporating wellness into all aspects of life and works with her private clients to create balance. This includes developing mastery of one’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being through various disciplines and healing modalities such as deep stretching, breathing, core work, meditation, reflection, nutrition, stress management and wellness coaching. She is an Ambassador for Divine Warrior Goddess Trainings and has been successful in facilitating these trainings to numerous women throughout Traverse City, Michigan. She feels there is great work to be done in bringing together women and reminding them of the skills they inherently possess and removing those layers and restrictions society has imposed so there is movement forward with their life’s work. Her work at the Cowell Family Cancer Center increased her passion for working with individuals overcoming illness and fear has helped her in her own life by driving her further into studies in multiple areas of healing. She currently divides her time in Traverse City, Michigan teaching and working privately, as well as, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Passion for Wellness and Community

As a child, the seed for yoga was planted when Terri attended her first yoga classes in a fellow elementary school student’s basement learning yoga from a dedicated mom. That seed took root and continues to grow strong. As she continued on her journey, those roots reached out, took her on a path of spiritual growth, and coaxed within her the need to continue to learn about the intricacies of the human body, our vessel in this life, the mind and spirit. She currently serves as a board member for the organization, Yoga Alliance, Arlington, VA and continues to find ways to bring her teachings to her communities, both in Florida and Michigan. An annual retreat “Pura Vida Yoga Retreat” is provided and taught by her in Costa Rica always attempting to immerse a larger group to the concepts of yoga, meditation, pranayama and self-study. Founder of Svastha and Peaceful Poses Terri has been practicing yoga throughout her life and teaching yoga since 2012. She is the founder of Svastha and Peaceful Poses, whose mission is to teach the incorporation of wellness concepts, yoga and meditation into the daily lives and build daily routines with her students. She teaches multiple types of classes such as Restorative, Yin, Detox, Hot and Gentle yoga, SUP, along with meditation, and leads multiple workshops and facilitates groups of women in her communities fostering a tribe of sorts who grow and learn together. She specializes in one on one teaching and coaching based on client needs and creating individualized plans for students to include all aspects of wellness.

Reviews

A great trip. Every meal was excellent. I loved that we could have whatever we wanted to eat and drink. And each restaurant was different from the next. I can't pick a favorite. We ate by the water, in the fields of an organic farm, in an old mansion, in a new mansion, in a rooftop terrace, and more. We were serenaded by a group of musicians. We drove through Havana for an hour in vintage convertibles with the top down and horns honking We toured a tobacco and coffee farm. We socialized in the living room at our Casa. We enjoyed slide shows of our photos in the dining room, where we also had excellent fresh fruit and juice and eggs for each breakfast. Jason and Santiago were gracious and knowledgable guides, making sure everything ran smoothly and taking us to places that were perfect for photography.. Our driver was first-rate. The trip was easy and fun.
Had a great time. Wonderful experience. Very informative. Great food. Jason, tour director, Santiago, tour guide, Juanito, bus driver all exceeded expectations. I have now have Cuban friends on FB.
Had a great time. One of the best groups of people I've ever traveled with. Thought Santiago, the Cuban guide, was excellent. The B&B or casa particular also was excellent and very comfortable. From my perspective, improvements would include: substituting a light lunch or dinner for a heavy one. Mainly, it would have been better to have been able to spend less time over a meal because heavy meals generally too 2 hours to complete. I also would have liked a museum thrown in, particularly on a rainy day when the itinerary changed. I would have preferred that over spending yet more time seated and drinking at the Hotel Nacional. As for the photography aspect of the trip, I would not have minded some critical feedback on our photos. I enjoyed seeing others' photos.
The best trip ever. Jason and his local team in Cuba went above and beyond - jam packed days meeting wonderful people, learning about Cuba, eating great food! Our Casa Particular was clean and comfortable with a warm, and efficient staff. Highly recommend!
