Begins with travel northbound with breaks along the way including lunch. We’ll
overnight in Chester, VA., a suburb of Richmond. Dinner is on our own.
Arrival in Amish Country aboard our Amish Buggy - cleverly disguised as a
Small World Motorcoach. Our first stop will be at Kitchen Kettle Village, a place for
sharing laughter, carving out family time, and relishing a Lancaster hospitality experience all rolled into one quaint, walkable village of local cooks, quilters, and shopkeepers looking forward to our visit. Discover unique homemade food, shopping-locally, and favorite name brands along with a warm smile and friendly faces at Kitchen Kettle Village. After getting our feet wet, we will check into our hotel which will be our home for the next 3 nights. After check-in, we will depart for our first of several Amish Meals. Delicious! B,D
Begins with a nostalgic glimpse of railroading's glorious past at the Railroad
Museum. We will discover the colorful history and technology of the industry that
transformed America along with captivating stories of men and women who built, operated and traveled on the railroads. More than 100 historic locomotives and railroad cars, artifacts and art are on hand to explore. Could this visit be a bit of foreshadowing......?
All Aboard The Strasburg Railway as we travel through Pennsylvania Dutch Country as an authentic steam locomotive pulls you past working farms, their Amish neighbors, and beauty as far as the eye can see. Enjoy shopping at the Railroad Store and Gift Shop, as well as time for lunch at the Casey Jones restaurant which is two original P-70 80-ton dining cars that once rode the rails of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the early 1900's.
After lunch, its time for a visit to Lititz, an Amish Sweet Spot. This stunning cultural melting pot was founded in 1756 by Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf, whom also had founded the modern day Moravian Church. The majority of the homes and buildings that stand in the town date back to this era and are stunningly historically restored, making downtown Lititz a must see. These buildings now harbor many of Lititz’s unique boutiques, shops and taverns giving way to shopping and dining experiences that prove impossible to forget.
While in Lititz, take a deep breath, and smell the chocolate aroma throughout the Wilbur Chocolate Store. Wilbur’s will stir delightful memories of yesteryear and put a smile on our face. You can also watch candy makers create delicious fudge. Don’t spoil dinner!
Our next stop is at Shady Maple Smorgasbord where we will discover a unique experience of dining at Lancaster County's largest smorgasbord. What began as a roadside vegetable stand has now become an expansive buffet-style restaurant and a large farm market with its own bakery, smokehouses and impressive produce department. After dinner, explore their gigantic 41,000-square-foot gift shop. We will return to our hotel to overnight. B,D
We will start Day Four exploring more Amish Farmlands. Our local guide will meet us as we venture out onto the "Roads Less Traveled" through the heart of the Amish Farmlands. Enjoy picturesque scenery as we meander across country roads where time seems to stand still. See pristine Amish farms, one-room schoolhouses, windwheels, Amish "phone booths" and farmers working the fields. Later, we will stop at an Amish Quilt & Craft Shop, right on an Amish farm! We will have time for lunch and shopping before our special event.
Right on an Amish farm! From the banks of the Jordan River to the towering walls of Jericho, Joshua is a miraculous adventure! Journey alongside the people of Israel as they navigate their newfound freedom in an unforgiving wilderness. Joshua comes to life with massive sets, special effects, and live animals in this original stage production at the Sight & Sound Theatre. After our show, prepare for a unique and memorable experience as we are welcomed into a real Amish Home as their guests for an authentic Amish meal. Enjoy the gracious hospitality as the family serves a delicious Dutch feast. A real taste of Amish life doesn't get any better! B,D
