About this trip

The Art of Noticing: Watercolor and the Landscape with Leslie Baum

This plein air painting retreat includes guided and independent painting time, opportunities to share work, morning yoga, and a contemplative forest walk. Explore plein air painting as an expansive pursuit, one that encompasses more than rendering a view. Embrace the creative potential of noticing our environment, slowing down, and being present. Leslie will provide prompts and invitations to guide your painting – helping to cultivate a personal painterly approach. The focus will be on imaginatively responding to what the landscape evokes – the sensations, memories, images.

Magical. Red Clover Ranch is sublime. Leslie Baum's watercolor workshop was exactly what I wished it would be - I learned so much, and had a relaxing and productive time. I want to do it all over again!

This was one of the most memorable trips I've taken in a long time. Red Clover Ranch is so beautiful and Banjo and all the other animals are so precious but my most favorite part was the people that run the ranch. Annie, Danny and the rest of the staff are some of my favorite people ever. They all have wonderful life stories and are laid back and FUN! Every one of them made me laugh and also touched my heart deeply with stories of their families and the creative journeys they've each been on so far. The accommodations are thoughtful and well appointed and the landscape is stunning. But wait, I'm not done. The food. THE FOOD!!!! I can say with all honesty that I don't believe I've ever eaten such gorgeous, fresh, in season and local food ever and I'm hooked. Really truly hooked. I'm hoping there'll be a cookbook in the merch department someday and I'll be buying multiple copies for friends. My particular weekend excursion reservation was a watercolor workshop with the wonderful artist and teacher Leslie Baum. If you aren't already following this dynamic woman's work then get on it. She's phenomenal at painting, ceramic sculpture, teaching and frankly is just one of the most open, kind, gentle and present women out there. I'm lucky to be her student. I'm looking forward to my next trip with her.

I had a magical time with old friends and new over the July 4th holiday weekend. Splendid hand crafted meals by Chef Dani and team, lovely hikes on the ranch, fresh air and beautiful cabins! Can't wait for my next trip to RCC!
