Get an experience of Mount Meru in a beautiful climb for visitors who are not required to climb Kilimanjaro but want to prepare for it. Wildlife will cross your route while you trek, and Kilimanjaro will be in full view as you watch the sunrise. It is a difficult peak to summit, even if it can be done in only four days. There is some scrambling on rocks in the dark and at a high altitude to get to the climax, which is almost 15,000 feet. The visitor should be ready to hike for at least 10 hours on summit day. You can climb by simply ascending to Rhino Point to watch the sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro and then descending.

The track travels over wide grassland with cape buffalo and warthogs after leaving Momela Gate. Hopefully, you'll also get to see giraffes and elephants. Ascend steadily through the forest of the mountains. You can eat lunch at the well-known "Fig Tree." The journey continues through less dense forest after lunch, passing through areas with a variety of birds and monkeys, including the black and white colobus monkeys. You'll get your first up-close glimpses of the soaring cliffs and the Ash Cone by mid-afternoon.
