Maras & Moray:
The tour continues with a visit to the Colonial town of Maras and its church. From Maras we continue to the nearby Inca site of Moray, a magnificent series of terrace circles set into the ground which were once used by the Incas for experimentation with crops.
Our next destination are the salt mines which have been in use since Pre-Inca times. Water from a subterranean stream is channelled through pools where it evaporates and leaves behind pure salt crystals. With thousands of stark white pools stretching down the valley, the views are stunning.
Visit to Chinchero, located 18 miles from Cusco city with wonderful views of the Urubamba mountain range. Not many people visit it but it sure has a number of interesting spots you wouldn’t want to miss such as: great Inca ruins (aqueducts and terraces and Inca stone work), a church built by the Spaniards that dates from the 1600s on top of what used to be the remains of an Inca palace. Its main and most unique attractions are its weaving demonstrations:
Talented local women dressed in their traditional clothes will explain step-by-step how they produce different colours for the wool they use to make their beautiful textiles as well as how they wash them with natural products. You can shop a range of their products at the end of their demonstrations.
Transportation from the Sacred Valley to Cusco city and hotel drop off at approximately 18:00 pm.
*Lunch is included on this day
