The Castle Retreat with Kaffe and Brandon

Join HandCrafted Retreats for their premier luxury retreat week in Scotland.

Important:  Prices are offered for sharing a two person or for private rooms.  As our twin bed rooms are limited, we ask that when signing up to share with a friend that you sign both of you up together (at the same time).  We hope this will prevent us from overselling our twin rooms.

Thank you for your understanding.  In this situation, please choose 2 participants at the beginning of the booking process.  If you are booking with others, please do not choose more than 2 per booking as we are only able to take 2 at a time.  Those who are coming with you in a different room should book separately.  Also, please obtain your roommates permission to agree to terms and conditions for them as this is required on the booking form.

****There is a $200 discount for non-workshop participants sharing a room with a participant.  If this is your situation, please choose one RETREAT OPTION and one NON-PARTICIPANT option on the pricing page.

We set off with huge expectations and were not disappointed when we arrived at the glorious Villa that Casa Felix is, made all the more splendorous by Christopher's antique quilts draped over the balconies and around the pool. The rooms were simply sumptuous but then we had paid for the single supplement which in this case was worth the extra $. Mathew's bubbly personality and divine Gin and Tonics were a huge hit although maybe I had one or two too many as I was the only one brave enough to jump into the 'freezing' cold pool! Unfortunately Deb was not able to join us due to CV-19 but Christopher and Mathew more than made up for Deb's absence with not only their good humour and fun-loving attitudes but their calm and reassuring demeanours in a time of crisis. The cancellation of the Sitges International Patchwork Festival was a huge disappointment as was having to cut our time at Casa Felix short. Our tutor Gillian was great but personally I would have liked to stitch not just paint her creations but there were no sewing machines. Do I feel robbed - in some ways, yes I do but then when you put it all into perspective with what is happening across the World seriously it is really just a minor irritation although an expensive one. Personally I would suggest that you opt for a Cancel for any Reason, travel insurance policy (if they are still available in future) because we would have cancelled prior to leaving Australia if we could. So in closing I would just like to say thank you to all the other participants who were really lovely as well as the owner Jane and staff at Casa Felix who made us all feel like it was our 'home'. A special thank you to Christopher Wilson-Tate you are an absolute LEGEND and I appreciate having had the opportunity to meet and spend time with you. Take care and be kind to yourselves and others Lynne xx (PS had to revise as the quotation marks do not work haha).
Under the circumstances we had a good time. Chris Tate was a wonderful host and we made good of a unfortunate situation. A great group of women and the accommodation and food was excellent. i would love to do another tour in the future. Kind regards Gail Lansdowne
Thank you Gail - Yes, it is to bad that the coronavirus situation worsened so much while everyone was in Spain. I'm glad you enjoyed the villa, it is a beautiful location. Please stay safe and healthy.

I really had a wonderful time and even though it was not as planned because of the pandemic, we were kept safe and secure. Different outings were planned and things were worked on the fly. They did everything they could to give us an amazing experience. Thank you for all you did...and Casa Felix was such a fantastic accommodation. Maybe I will get back there one day when there isn’t so much worldly drama!!!
Thank you Sandra, I'm pleased you had a lovely time despite the closing down of Spain just when you were with the retreat - here's to another time!!

Needless to say, this was not a great time to be away on a retreat; however, even with the Covid-19 threat, we did have a lovely time! Casa Felix was a beautiful place for a retreat, the catering was great and the accommodation very comfortable. The original programme could not continue but we enjoyed a day in Sitges wandering the streets taking photographs, a day and a half of tutoring with Gillian Travis, fabulous flamenco dancers, lovely music and a chance to meet a whole new group of like-minded people. Thank you to Deb and Christopher for organising the retreat and particularly to Christopher, who held the fort when Deb was unable to attend. Hopefully we can all meet again in better circumstances!!
Thank you Pip! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the villa and what you were able to do. It is such a shame that Covid-19 hit Spain about the same time you all did causing everything to close down. I'm thankful that you are well and safe at home. Hoping to meet you one day too. Deb

I was fortunate enough to attend the Sitges Spain quilting retreat in March 2020. Except for the corona virus situation exploding in the world around us, everything about the trip was spectacular. It was held in a charming villa, the Casa Felix, which was in the mountains north of Sitges. It couldn’t have been nicer. The villa was restored from ruins but it had all the amenities. Every bedroom had an ensuite bathroom. We arrived to find quilts owned by Christopher Wilson-Tate hung inside and outside the villa. Classes were held in a dedicated room with lots of room. Gillian Travis, an exceptional fabric artist, provided great instruction on finding inspiration for a design, different techniques, including painting on fabric, and the use of several helpful computer applications. She also led early morning walks for those so inclined. Although the quilt show was cancelled due to corona virus, we did manage to walk through Sitges, visit a fabric store and have a few meals there before things completely shut down. Although the corona virus situation caused some anxiety, we all managed to have a great time. It was a great group of interesting and fun quilters from several countries. Home cooked meals were served three times a day and many were eaten al fresco. There was a limitless supply of wine and wonderful hospitality by Christopher, Mathew and the staff. Lots of stories from Christopher about antique quilts and his journey in becoming a collector. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat. Treat yourself.
Thank you Mary Jane, it's good to know you enjoyed yourself during the a week that unfortunately occurred just as the world seemed to be shutting down for the virus. I'm looking forward to seeing you and Gaynel next year in Scotland for the Kaffe Fassett retreat. Continue to stay safe and healthy - Deb
