About your trip

Discover the Canoeing Mecca of Temagami, Ontario

When it comes to canoeing in Ontario, Algonquin Park is what first comes to mind. But venture just an hour or so further north and the crowds fall away, the trees get bigger, the lakes get deeper and the Canadian Shield gets bolder.

karibu helps you access this pristine wilderness, with a one-of-a-kind guided experience that combines the best of the Canadian outdoors with a little rustic comfort.

Trip Highlights

  • 3.5 days of canoeing through the quartz-lined lakes and old growth forests of the Temagami wilderness.
  • Camp amidst pine forests with million-dollar lake views and the sound of the loon’s call.
  • Wake to the mist rising off the lake and relax at night by the campfire under a big, starry sky.
  • Swim in a secret lagoon with a 30ft waterfall and explore the granite cliffs and old growth forests of Wolf Lake
  • Take a steamy, cedar-wood sauna, jump into a cool lake and sleep like a baby.
  • Bookend the trip in a classic, family-owned backcountry lodge,  treated to hearty home-cooked meals, and apps by the water.

Who this is for: families with kids 10+ , couples, friends, solo travelers

Getting There

The meeting point for our Temagami trip is approximately 430 km due north of Toronto (5-hour drive) and 87 km from Sudbury (1.20 hours by car). The closest town is Hagar, Ontario. Detailed driving instructions are provided on booking. For those flying into Sudbury, a vehicle pick-up can be arranged for an additional fee. Please email info@karibuadventures for further information.

Guests are then picked up by boat at the southern tip of Maskinonge Lake, at a place called Jonas Landing. Cars can be parked here. Detailed driving instructions are provided upon booking.
