Less than 15 miles / 30 minutes east of Edinburgh International Airport sits one of Scotland’s most economic regions to play golf. In fact, there are over 20 courses to choose from; some hidden gems that you might not be familiar with to the Open Championship venue of Muirfield.
Scotland’s Golf Coast as it is now known, is very scenic with its quaint villages and towns dotted between the stunning coastline and the rolling green countryside. The town of North Berwick is home to the West Course and is also the epicenter of the region. It provides the golfer with plenty of choices for post-golf indulgence with its strong pub and restaurant scene that is in abundance throughout the town.
If you are looking for a bit of country living, then there are some great accommodation options such as Greywalls or Archerfield. If you are looking for a great meal and an all-around dining experience, then you must head to Duck’s Inn in the village of Aberlady. You can even stay there but whatever you do, make sure you challenge the proprietor Malcolm Duck to his Bar Stool Challenge, definitely one of a kind and has to be one of golf’s best 19th hole games!
All in all, Scotland’s Golf Coast is for the golf purist seeking to play some great links golf; courses that just don’t get their deserved due because of the bigger names courses in Scotland.
