About this trip

THE EIGHTFOLD PATH | ASANA

In the Spring of 2019, The Eightfold Path found its home in Crestone, Colorado at the Tibetan shrine of Blazing Mountain Retreat Center.

With the Sangro De Cristo mountains directly to the east, and a wide open high desert plain to the west, Blazing Mountain is an ideal venue for the kind of deep self-reflective experience offered through The Eightfold Path.

THE INTENT

THE EIGHTFOLD PATH is a temple of community.

Built on a shared passion for self-knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the human experience strengthened and realized by the collaborative energy of practice.

THE EIGHTFOLD PATH is a place for you to explore the deeper terrains of the psyche, to accelerate the process of self-realization, and to gain the kind of knowledge and wisdom that can only come through direct experience.

THE EIGHTFOLD PATH is not a yoga vacation.  It is a carefully curated immersion designed for those seeking the space to go into deeper self-inquiry, and to active the power, potency, and transformation alive at the heart of the yoga tradition.

THE EIGHTFOLD PATH in an experience that helps you come to see, feel and understand what is going on inside you.  To illuminate, ignite, and open your body, mind, heart and soul to the power and brilliance of the innate creative intelligence alive within.

Who can attend ASANA?  Do I need to have attended YAMA and NIYAMA to be able to attend ASANA?   ASANA is open to all students who have been practicing yoga for at least one year, and who desire an immersive exploration of the self through yoga, meditation, self-reflection, embodied movement and community..

* Your responses to our questions regarding your level of experience and intent will be reviewed only to insure that your interests are in alignment with this special retreat.  Please note that your registration is not considered complete until your questions has been reviewed.  A telephone interview may also be requested.

+ What if my room choice is already sold out?   Please contact Jan at jan@soulbeingwellness.com if you would like to join us but your room choice is already sold out.  There may be more room options that we can release to suit your needs.

+Why did the prices slightly increase this year?  In an effort to appropriately support all of the artists and guest teachers, we increased the cost a nominal amount.   Our goal is always to keep this dynamic offering as affordable as possible.

+ Are there any Student Discounts available?  There are a limited number of Quad room spaces for those who are in need of financial aid.  Please email Jan@soulbeingwellness.com for an application.  Your application will be reviewed by the EIGHTFOLD PATH | ASANA team and you may be asked for a telephone interview.

+ Are there any Work Study positions available?  The work study team is already full, but if you’d like to be added to the wait list please email Jan@soulbeingwellness.com.  The Eightfold Path is built on the notion of community support.  The work-study positions are open to those who feel compelled to assist in room set up and various other tasks, and who also have the capacity to hold the space of support for the group process.

+ Can I share my Queen or Full bed room with another person and what are the rates?  Yes, you can share only Queen and Full bed rooms with one other guest, for a reduced fee for the second guest.   Please contact jan@soulbeingwellness.com to learn about room rates and make your booking.

+ What is the cancellation policy?  A $500 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to register.  Final payment is due January 5, 2020.  Cancellation on or before January 5, 2020  will receive a refund minus the $500 deposit plus a cancellation fee of $100.

Cancellations after January 5, 2020 will mean forfeiture of all money rendered.  This cancellation policy is firm. We recommend you purchase travelers insurance to protect your investment. Please do not make any travel plans until receiving confirmation of your registration.

+ What is the retreat schedule?  We will send a welcome email with more details but in general you can expect 4-6 hours per day of practice including asana, meditation, contemplative practices and philosophical discourse, as well as additional movement and creative explorations with guest teachers.  There will be down time each day for rest, walks in nature, etc.  Any additional activities will reflect the introspective and contemplative nature of this retreat.

+ How do I get to Blazing Mountain Retreat Center?  Expect an email after you register with travel suggestions and information.  In general,  most people fly into Denver International Airport (DEN), which is a four-hour drive from Crestone. We will be helping to arrange shuttles from Denver airport to Blazing Mountain and will offer suggested arrival times.  Other ground transportation is available from Denver to Crestone including rental cars and bus transport.  You can also fly into Alamosa County Airport (ALA), a regional airport which is a one-hour drive to Crestone. You will need to arrange your own ground transportation from Alamosa. Denver flights tend be less expensive and involve fewer connections.

+ What are options for extending my stay in Crestone if I want to arrive early or stay late?   Crestone is a very small community but there are a few guest houses and many AirBnB options.  Consider as well breaking your trip up by staying overnight in Denver or Alamosa or a neighboring town.

Reviews

It was a miraculous experience, as expected. Both years at Menla fully exceeded any ideas of what I thought the weeks could look like and I was so moved and transformed by it all. I love the Menla staff, cuisine, beautiful mountains, and practice spaces. My only issue was with the mattress as I had to pile pillows under my (healthy) back because the pain was keeping me up at night. Kevin and team were top notch and outside of the other review I already submitted, I have nothing to add but 10 stars all around. It was phenomenal and I will be returning!

The team, the place, the practices (which were so masterfully crafted) - everything was awe-inspiring. The community is so beautiful. I felt (and still feel) deeply rested, inspired and moved by the experience.
