Cultural Caravans and the Fihri Foundation have partnered to bring you an extraordinary experience — one that goes far beyond travel. Together, they invite you to journey to Morocco, walk the historic streets of Fes, and visit firsthand the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest continuously operating university in the world and the very institution that inspired the name of the Fihri Foundation.
Founded by the visionary Fatima Al-Fihri, a pioneer of education in the Muslim world, Al-Qarawiyyin stands as a timeless testament to the power of women's leadership and knowledge. This retreat honors her legacy by inviting travelers to explore Morocco through the lens of women's empowerment, culture, and community impact.
Over eight transformative days, participants will journey from the ancient medina of Fes through the vibrant cultural capital of Marrakech and into the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. Along the way, travelers will engage with women-led organizations, meet local artisans and community leaders, and share meaningful moments with Moroccan families.
A highlight of the retreat is Period Palooza — a hands-on giving experience where participants will come together to pack period kits and distribute them directly to young women and girls in Morocco, ensuring they have access to essential menstrual health resources and the dignity to stay in school and thrive.
A portion of the proceeds from this retreat will go directly back to the Fihri Foundation, fueling our mission to expand our impact and empower women and girls worldwide.
This is more than a journey. It is a celebration of women past and present, a commitment to communities, and an invitation to be part of something meaningful — all while experiencing the beauty, warmth, and living traditions of Morocco.
