About this trip

Quiet & cozy Sierra Hot Springs lies just an hour north of Tahoe at the cusp of a lush national forest and a beautiful alpine valley, blanketed with wildflowers. Wander 700 acres of enchanted forest in the Sierra mountains. Trade your soul-sucking commute for a midnight soak in 24-hour sacred springs under the stars, or rise with the sun for a daybreak hike.

We will cultivate the quality of loving kindness (metta in Pali), as a way to deeply care for our hearts, minds, and bodies. Loving kindness is a natural expression of our being that gets veiled through conditioning, trauma, and chronic stress. Practice opening to the boundless capacity of the heart, generating radical self love and empowering yourself to be a force of love in the world while mitigating stress and burnout. Explore how the radiating, stabilizing, and healing qualities of loving kindness can serve clear-seeing and emotional-regulation while gently guiding difficult relationships in our life.

The retreat includes daily organic vegetarian brunch.  For other meals and snacks, Sierra Hot Springs has a delicious organic omnivore restaurant. There is also a kitchen, where retreatants can store their own food and cook their own meals. Check out sierrahotsprings.org for details. Morning sessions of Yoga will include moderate  Hatha Flow practice and meditation while evening sessions will include gentle or restorative practice, pranayama, and meditation. Afternoons will be free for soaking in the hot springs, hiking, or luxuriating in a massage.

There are both public clothing optional pools and private baths available.

This retreat is for folks of all experiences, abilities, sizes, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, immigration statuses, shapes, gender expressions, nationalities, and ages 15+. I do my best to teach with an access-centered, radically inclusive lens. I specialize in modifying Yoga poses based on students' needs.

Final payment due by March 1st.

Offering 13 years of experience teaching yoga, Satya de la Paz August inspires students to fall in love with their bodies and their practice. She infuses dynamic alignment, chanting, storytelling, and community-building into her classes. Satya is deeply grateful for her mentor, Abby Tucker, as well as all of her dharma and movement teachers: Sally Kempton, Rob Preece, and Sianna Sherman. Satya's classes are a classroom and restoration of our most awakened blissful being for multiracial, multi-gender, and multigenerational groups.

Such a wonderful time in community continuing to build on my personal practice and journey towards liberation. Loved the intentional silence and the variety of meditation techniques including chanting/singing, walking meditation, and still meditation. Satya is able to create a space of belonging full of invitations to settle into our own bodies while challenging ourselves too. Thank you for the inclusive space and attention to accessibility!

I had a great experience. I have so much gratitude for Satya, Greg and Andres' ability to cultivate a space where I could be in community, land in my body, and notice what's on my heart and spirit. This was my first silent retreat, and I was feeling a bit nervous. I was grateful to be in space with a largely BIPOC group, and I left feeling a greater connection to myself and to the people around me.
