🍁 The Real Yellowstone Discovery Expedition: An Early Fall Retreat for Women

Experience Yellowstone in its golden transition season, when long summer days begin softening into autumn, the valleys glow, wildlife is on the move, and the park feels a little more spacious. This 6-day, women-only retreat invites you to discover “the real Yellowstone” through story, scenery, sisterhood, and a thoughtfully paced itinerary designed for wonder without overwhelm.

We’ll travel from Bozeman through Paradise Valley to our cozy cabin base near Emigrant, Montana, exploring thermal terraces, geyser basins, dramatic overlooks, wildlife corridors, and the quiet corners that make Yellowstone feel personal. A full-day adventure to Cody layers in Western history and art, with time at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, sweeping mountain roads, and a classic Main Street dinner.

Each day blends guided experiences with space to breathe: picnic lunches, scenic drives, short walks, flexible boardwalk options, wildlife watching, a rejuvenating evening soak at Yellowstone Hot Springs, and relaxed cabin evenings gathered over hearty meals and easy conversation. With private or shared cabin options, refrigerators and stoves in each cabin, and Christine’s cabin serving as our food-prep and gathering hub, the rhythm stays comfortable, practical, and homey.

🍂 Seasonal Flexibility – Early Fall in Yellowstone

 September in Yellowstone is beautiful and unpredictable. Days can be sunny and mild, mornings and evenings can feel crisp, wildlife activity changes quickly, and roadwork or temporary closures may influence what’s possible on a given day. We may adjust the order of days, swap specific stops, or shorten/lengthen walks to keep things safe, comfortable, and aligned with the spirit of the trip.

No matter the weather or trail conditions, our priority is the same: meaningful, memory-filled days with a thoughtful balance of views, stories, movement, and rest.

Unless otherwise noted, all meals are included, with a mix of cabin breakfasts, picnic lunches, and local restaurant dinners. National park entrance fees, guided experiences, and local transportation are also included. Alcohol and market-price add-ons are not included.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE. This intimate retreat is designed for 2–4 women seeking connection, awe, and the ease of being guided through Yellowstone together.

🗓️ Booking, Grace Period & Cancellation Terms

💳 Payment Plan – Yellowstone Discovery Expedition (July 12-17, 2026)

To reserve your spot, a 20% deposit is due at booking. This deposit secures your place on this small-group expedition.

·         20% deposit due at booking (non-refundable after grace period)

·         The remaining balance will be split into equal monthly payments, due on the 13th of each month, with final payment due by August 13, 2026.

If your final payment is not received within 48 hours of the due date, your space may be released and offered to another guest.

PLEASE NOTE: If you book within 30 days of the expedition, payment terms will change. If booking within 30 days of the expedition, the grace period is waived, and the cancellation policy will be in effect. The payment plan found on the WeTravel website (the booking site for this expedition) supersedes all other payment plans.

Some trip components (such as lodging, park permits, or group reservations) may become non-refundable after booking unless your spot can be resold. Full payment terms will be included in your invoice and guest agreement.

🕊️ Grace Period

Guests may cancel within 7 calendar days of booking for a full refund, including the deposit—if the waiver and guest agreement have not yet been signed.  If booking within 30 days of the expedition, the grace period is waived, and the cancellation policy will be in effect.

Once the waiver is signed or the 7-day window has passed (whichever comes first), the deposit becomes non-refundable, and the cancellation policy below applies.

• The 20% deposit is non-refundable after the grace period.

• Cancellations more than 30 days prior to the expedition start date may be eligible for a partial refund of additional payments, depending on what costs can be recovered or resold.

• Cancellations within 30 days of departure are non-refundable, unless your spot is filled by another guest.

Expedition Sisterhood will always make a good-faith effort to resell unused spots and issue partial refunds when possible.

Full cancellation terms will be outlined in your guest waiver and booking agreement, sent within 3 days of registration.

Please plan to arrive in Bozeman (BZN) by 1:00 PM for a 1:30 PM group departure. Guests traveling a long distance or dealing with tight connections are encouraged to arrive the night before so they don’t miss anything.

We’ll begin with a relaxed late lunch at The Murray Bar & Grill in historic Livingston, then continue through Paradise Valley, where the mountains rise around us and the Yellowstone River winds alongside the road. Guests meeting us in Livingston should arrive by 2:15 PM, and guests driving directly to Gardiner should plan to arrive by 4:00 PM.

Once we’re all together, we’ll check in at Emigrant Cabins, settle in, and ease into a laid-back welcome evening. We’ll travel into the park for our first glimpse of Yellowstone, then return for dinner in Gardiner, introductions, an official orientation, and a beautiful dessert board back at the cabins.

We’ll start early with a self-serve cabin breakfast before setting out for a full, beautiful day on the road toward Cody, Wyoming.

Our route carries us through Yellowstone’s northern range, where wide valleys, winding rivers, and open wildlife country invite us to slow down, look closely, and let the landscape speak for itself.

Along the way, we’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch before continuing onto the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, one of the most stunning drives in the Rockies. We’ll pause at Sunlight Creek Bridge and Dead Indian Pass Overlook, where big views and layered history bring this rugged route into focus.

In Cody, you’ll have time at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, with the freedom to explore museums focused on Plains Indian history, Western art, natural science, firearms history, and Buffalo Bill himself.

We’ll wrap the day with dinner at Proud Cut Saloon, then return toward Yellowstone through the East Entrance, Sylvan Pass, and Yellowstone Lake as the evening light softens around us.

After a self-serve cabin breakfast, we’ll travel south through Yellowstone, passing the Hoodoos and high-country views as we move deeper into the park’s thermal landscape. Our first major stop is Fountain Paint Pots in the Lower Geyser Basin, where steaming vents, bubbling mud pots, and colorful pools give us a close look at Yellowstone’s restless ground.

From there, we’ll continue to Grand Prismatic Spring in the Midway Geyser Basin, one of the park’s most iconic sights, with walking options adjusted to group ability and current conditions.

We’ll head on to Old Faithful, check the predicted eruption time, and plan lunch around the rhythm of the geyser — either at the historic Old Faithful Inn if available or one of the nearby dining options.

On our return route, we’ll follow the Firehole River corridor and pause at storytelling sites including Mattie Culver’s Gravesite, the Nez Perce Trail Marker, and the Queen’s Laundry Site.

We’ll finish with Gibbon Falls and, if timing and group energy allow, a flexible walk through Artist Paint Pots before dinner and ice cream in Gardiner.

We’ll ease into the day with breakfast at the cabins, then spend the day exploring Yellowstone’s northern roads at an unhurried pace.

Our route includes Undine Falls, a peaceful roadside waterfall, and the Petrified Tree, where a short walk brings us close to a remnant of Yellowstone’s ancient forested past.

If the group wants another look at wildlife country, we may return to Lamar Valley before turning back toward the Tower area, depending on timing, conditions, and interest. From there, we’ll continue to Calcite Springs Overlook and Tower Fall, with time for short walks, overlooks, and a relaxed picnic-style lunch somewhere along the route.

If timing, parking, and group energy allow, continue to Norris Geyser Basin, one of Yellowstone’s most dynamic thermal areas. Later in the day, we’ll visit Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces.

After dinner near Gardiner, we’ll end the day with a slow, restorative soak at Yellowstone Hot Springs, surrounded by mountains, open sky, and that end-of-day quiet that feels especially good after time outside.

We’ll begin with a self-serve cabin breakfast before heading straight to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone for a morning filled with some of the park’s most unforgettable views.

We’ll take in the power of the Brink of the Upper Falls, a viewpoint overlooking the Brink of the Lower Falls, and the classic sweeping vista from Artist Point. From there, we’ll continue through Hayden Valley, watching for wolves, grizzlies, bison, elk, and migrating birdlife in one of Yellowstone’s premier wildlife corridors.

After Hayden, we’ll visit the Mud Volcano area for an optional boardwalk loop before following the road to West Thumb Geyser Basin on the shore of Yellowstone Lake.

As we begin the return north, we’ll pause near Fishing Bridge and LeHardy Rapids, taking in the movement of the Yellowstone River and the lake’s wild, open edge.

If time allows, we’ll make additional canyon stops, then return by way of Obsidian Cliff and Sheepeater Cliffs before gathering for a final local dinner and a quiet evening of tea, cocoa, and reflection at the cabins.

Our final morning begins slowly at the cabins as we pack, load the vehicle, and take a few last group photos before departure.

We’ll leave the Yellowstone area with full hearts, full camera rolls, and maybe a little reluctance — because good trips have a way of making goodbye feel slightly rude.

On the drive back to Bozeman, we’ll gather for a farewell brunch at Western Café, a beloved local spot with hearty, no-frills Montana comfort food.

Christine will begin airport drop-offs at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport late morning, with guests asked to schedule departing flights for 12:00 PM or later.

Group services officially conclude at 2:00 PM, and guests riding back toward Butte, Helena, or Missoula will depart with Christine at that time.

You’ll head home carrying the glow of early fall in Yellowstone — golden valleys, steaming basins, wild roads, and the memory of experiencing it all with a small circle of women who said yes to the adventure.
