Your adventure begins in the late evening as your flight touches down in Fairbanks, Alaska. Due to the late hour, we'll arrange a smooth pickup and a quick stop at a local supermarket so you can grab snacks and drinks for your room. Since most stores will be closed by the time you arrive, we'll have a bag of snacks and drinks waiting for you upon arrival at the lodge.
We'll then make our way on a scenic 30-minute drive up the mountain to the Aurora Borealis Lodge, where you'll stay for the next four nights. This rustic yet cozy lodge, located in one of the world's premier places to view the Northern Lights, provides the perfect setting for this magical retreat.

Arrival Information
Most flights into Fairbanks arrive late at night or in the early morning hours, with Delta and Alaska Airlines serving as the primary carriers. If you’d like to extend your stay before or after the retreat, we’re happy to assist with booking additional nights.
Airport Welcome & Transfer
Upon arrival, Amy Walker will personally greet you at the airport arrivals hall, holding a Walker Wellness Retreats sign for easy identification. From there, we’ll make a quick stop at a nearby grocery store so you can stock up on snacks and drinks for your room. Afterward, enjoy a scenic 30-minute drive up the mountain to the Aurora Borealis Lodge, where you’ll settle in and prepare for the start of your Northern Lights experience.
Evening Activity: Northern Lights Viewing
Tonight, the Northern Lights await! From the comfort of your room—featuring large north-facing windows—you’ll have an excellent vantage point to watch for the aurora. Optimal viewing hours are typically between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM. Radios are provided in each room so guests can communicate when the lights appear, sharing the excitement with fellow travelers.

8:00 AM – Begin your day with a scenic drive down the mountain as we leave the cozy Aurora Borealis Lodge and head into Fairbanks for brunch at The Cookie Jar. This local favorite is known for its warm atmosphere and delicious offerings—from classic breakfast favorites and savory omelets to sweet treats, there’s something for everyone to fuel up for the day ahead.
Late Morning: Snack & Drink Shopping
11:00 AM – After brunch, we’ll stop at Fred Meyer so you can stock up on snacks, drinks, and any essentials you may want for your lodge room. Choose from fresh fruit, local snacks, bottled beverages, and more. For those interested, we’ll also visit a local liquor store where you can pick up craft beers or spirits to enjoy in the comfort of your room during our late Northern Lights viewing nights.
Since our nights will be long, having your own snacks and beverages on hand will keep you comfortable while you wait for the aurora to appear. Please note that while brunch and dinner are provided daily, any additional meals or drinks outside these times are at your own expense.
Afternoon: Museum of the North Exploration
We’ll head to the Museum of the North for a two-hour immersive experience. Explore Alaska’s rich history, culture, and the fascinating science behind the Northern Lights through interactive exhibits. This visit offers a meaningful backdrop as we prepare for an evening of aurora watching.
Late Afternoon: Local Brew at HooDoo Brewing
4:30 PM – After the museum, we’ll stop at HooDoo Brewing Company, a popular local brewery celebrated for its craft beers and inviting atmosphere. Whether you prefer a local brew or a refreshing non-alcoholic drink, this is a great spot to relax and connect with fellow travelers before dinner.
Evening: Dinner at Bobby’s Greek Taverna & Return to the Lodge
6:00 PM – We’ll enjoy a family-style dinner at Bobby’s Greek Taverna, a beloved Fairbanks eatery serving classic Mediterranean dishes like moussaka, lamb, tzatziki, and fresh salads. The warm hospitality and flavorful meal provide the perfect end to a day full of discovery.
7:30 PM – After dinner, we’ll return to the Aurora Borealis Lodge nestled among snow-capped peaks. The lodge’s rustic charm and remote setting offer a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the Alaskan wilderness.

Late Morning: Souvenir Shopping at Alaska Bowl Company
12:30 PM – After brunch, we’ll visit the Alaska Bowl Company, a Fairbanks favorite for unique, handcrafted Alaskan gifts. Browse beautiful wooden bowls, jewelry, artwork, and cozy apparel—perfect for finding a special keepsake to remember your Alaskan adventure.
Afternoon: Scenic Drive to Chena Hot Springs
2:30 PM – Next, we’ll embark on a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Chena Hot Springs, nestled in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness. Along the way, take in stunning mountain and forest views that set the perfect tone for relaxation.
Upon arrival, enjoy ample time soaking in the mineral-rich, therapeutic hot springs—a rejuvenating experience to unwind and refresh.

Evening: Dinner at Chena Hot Springs Lodge
6:00 PM – Gather for a hearty dinner at Chena Hot Springs Lodge, where you can enjoy comforting Alaskan-inspired dishes in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This is the perfect way to refuel after a day of relaxation and exploration.
After dinner, we’ll return to the Aurora Borealis Lodge for a restful evening.

9:00 PM – 2:00 AM – Continue your Northern Lights experience from the comfort of your room at the Aurora Borealis Lodge. With north-facing windows providing an excellent vantage point, you’ll have a front-row seat to the aurora’s mesmerizing display.
Radios are provided so guests can alert one another when the lights appear, and lodge owner Mok will also notify us of any aurora activity, making this a shared and exciting experience.

12:00 PM – After breakfast, we’ll check out of the lodge and begin our descent down the mountain for an unforgettable Alaska Dog Sledding Adventure with Paws for Adventure. This one-hour experience offers a thrilling ride across the snow-covered terrain, pulled by a team of enthusiastic sled dogs.

Morning: Check-Out & Brunch at Hometown Restaurant
11:00 AM – After a magical stay at the Aurora Borealis Lodge, it’s time to check out and begin the final day of our Alaskan adventure. Please gather all of your belongings, as we will not be returning to the lodge. Once everyone is ready, we’ll make our way down the mountain and head to Hometown Restaurant in Fairbanks for a relaxing brunch. This inviting spot is known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious comfort food—whether you're in the mood for classic pancakes, savory eggs, or local specialties, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Afternoon: Cross Country Skiing at Birch Hill
1:00 PM – After brunch, we’ll stop at Trax Outdoor Center to rent cross-country skiing equipment (approximately $45, at your own expense). From there, you'll enjoy a self-paced afternoon of cross-country skiing at Birch Hill XC, a beloved local spot with groomed trails and scenic views. There’s no set return time—enjoy the activity at your leisure. Once finished, we’ll return the rental gear and head to the Hyatt Place Fairbanks.
A room will be reserved at Hyatt Place for you to check in, unwind, and freshen up before dinner. Whether you’d like to relax, take a shower, or enjoy a quiet moment before the evening’s farewell, this is your time to recharge.
Evening: Farewell Dinner at Soba
6:00 PM – As we close out an unforgettable retreat, we’ll come together one last time for a special farewell dinner at Soba, a top-rated Fairbanks restaurant celebrated for its authentic Moldovan cuisine. Enjoy a warm and delicious meal in an intimate setting as we reflect on the memories we've created together. From rich traditional dishes to thoughtful conversation, this final dinner is a heartfelt sendoff to a remarkable experience.
Late Night: Departure to Fairbanks Airport
11:00 PM – Following dinner, a transfer to the airport will be provided by the hotel to Fairbanks Airport for your overnight flight.
