About this trip

We're pleased to announce our first bespoke Tuscan hills cycling Experience, located near the beautiful city of  Siena - with this exclusive Tuscan Hills Adventure. Centered around the iconic Strade Bianche course, we have planned an exciting itinerary that will allow us to explore the stunning landscapes, charming towns, and vineyards of this iconic region in Italy and an opportunity to ride the iconic Strade Bianche route itself.

Obviously the renowned rolling hills of Tuscany speak for themselves, with endless miles of undulating roads that traverse one beautiful medieval village to the next. It would be a crime to come to this region without taking in the legendary white roads of the now iconic Strade Bianche. This idyllic mix of smooth rolling tarmac and dusty gravel is a cycling aficionado's dream.
Although, there aren't the usual high mountain summits that Girona Velo Experiences are noted for - the undulating elevation through Tuscany add up and by the week's end, there will be plenty of vertical on those Strava scores!
Each morning, you will wake up to a clean well maintained bike, serviced by our pro mechanic James. He will be riding with us on the roads and on hand for any mechanical emergencies or tweaking required.
Each afternoon we will return to our luxurious Tuscan hotel to freshen up and cool off in the pool before meeting for aperitifs prior to dinner at a local trattoria.

As a memento of this unforgettable week in Tuscany, it’s our pleasure to offer each guest with a commemorative Sportful Girona Velo jersey.

And of course - this being Italy and better still, Tuscany, it would be amiss not to mention the food & wine of this fertile region. It’s difficult to know where to begin in this culinary mecca - but sampling some of the Tuscan favourites like 'bistecca alla Fiorentina' (Florentine steak), ribollita (Tuscan vegetable soup), and pappa al pomodoro (tomato and bread stew) is a good place to start.  Let’s also not forget to savour the flavours of Tuscan cheeses, olive oils, cured meats, and other local specialties. Every evening we invite you to indulge yourselves with authentic Tuscan meals at handpicked restaurants and trattorias.
Last but not least, we must mention the wonderful wines of this region. It would be a crime not to sample a glass of wine from Montalcino and Chianti.

But inevitably - the primary take-away from these experiences is the genuine camaraderie with fellow riders. Once you’ve been through these shared experiences – you truly establish a special bond with your cycling compadres. We personally believe the highlights are the post ride evenings, sitting around the dinner table, enjoying great local food & wine and replaying the day’s events with a healthy dose of chatter and humour… there is inevitably always lots of laughter.

Allow us take care of everything – so you can relish these stunning rides, eating beautiful fresh local food and sharing this unique experience with your fellow riders.

The recipe is very simple – riding through idyllic landscapes with like minded friends, quality ride support & attention, and a generous sampling of the best local food and wine…… what more does anyone need?

Wow--great cycling. Great organization, accommodations, and food. Warm swims in Lake Annecy and big climbs up Alpe d'Huez (particularly off the back side!) were epic memories. Thanks to Paul and Michale "Chippy" Chipchase for putting on this bonanza of summer goodness.

The gravel experience was one to remember. Paul and Chippy know how to curate a "wholistic" bike adventure...amazing routes, awesome food, top notch service and lots of fun! I felt like a pro for a week!

Girona Gravel was an amazing adventure. Everything from start to finish was world class. The routes were challenging and spectacular. The food was outrageously delicious and the hotels were first class. Nothing like starting a new day with a great breakfast, a clean bike and an extraordinary adventure waiting. Michael, Paul and James are top notch. Can not wait to book another trip with Girona Velo...!!!

Paul, Michael, James and Miguel did a fantastic job on this trip. The guest group was limited to 12 people. We had a great base hotel that included a full breakfast every morning. After Breakfast, we would leave the hotel for a gravel bike tour of the local area mid morning. The ride was will supported with two guides, 1 mechanic, and a SAG who would meet us roughly every 20 Km. Typically 4-5 hours of bike riding per day (with breaks), and the country side was amazing Typically ride 80-100 Km per day. The first and last day are shorter rides. The Dinners were top notch, even the "Casual Night" a respite from Formal dinners, was a great European restaurant sitting outside in the square taking in the local culture. Girona is a foodie and biking paradise! The bikes were cleaned and tuned every night, water bottles always full, there were options for laundry service. These folks thought of everything. While this is not a competitive ride, the riders were all competitive, so the pace was strong. Bring your "A" game and you will love this trip....I did.

I've been to the Dolomites three times before but the trip with Girona Velo was by far the best. The accommodations were first class, the riders were evenly matched, the food was spectacular and the humor was brilliant! Don't miss out on one of these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
