After breakfast (included) at the hotel Monday morning, our first day out on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is going to jammed packed with lot of education and delicious bourbon. We will be kicking things off at Independent Stave Company where the majority of the whisky barrels in the world are made. There we will see staves assembled together into barrels and charred with flames before your eyes. We will also learn all about the effects of wood on whisky during aging.   

Next we will visit, Maker's Mark, the legendary distillery that started bourbon tourism. We will walk the picturesque campus and get a behind the red wax experience before hand dipping your own special bottle of Whiskey House Private Select. Then we will enjoy lunch Star Hill Provisions from Chef Newman Miller.

Lastly, we will visit the distillery responsible for making the number one selling bourbon in the world, Jim Beam. Here we will take a closer look at their small batch series including Booker's, Baker's, Knob Creek, and Basil Hayden. We will also get a chance to see the site where they are building a new distillery...

After a long and wonderful day we will head back to the hotel before enjoying an amazing dinner at one of Louisville's best restaurants.

After breakfast (included) at the hotel Monday morning, the first stop will be at Woodford Reserve in the heart of beautiful thoroughbred country for a tour and tasting. Woodford  County boasts more Kentucky Derby winners than any other place in the  world.  The beautiful Woodford distillery is surrounded by Kentucky bluegrass horse fields and also produces some world class whiskey.  

Next stop will be Buffalo Trace where we’ll see the famous Blanton’s bottling line and enjoy a special seated tasting with a BBQ lunch. Buffalo Trace is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America. During Prohibition the distillery was even permitted to remain operational, to make whiskey for "medicinal purposes".  Within the past decade, Buffalo Trace has won more awards than any other distillery in the world, including an unmatched seven "Distillery of the Year" titles. Still American family owned and located in Franklin County, Kentucky.  This beautiful distillery does not disappoint.

Next stop will be at Wild Turkey for an extra-special tour.  Not only will be taste the Wild Turkey 101, but also some amazing small batch stuff like Russell’s Reserve  and their Diamond bottling. With 60 years of experience, Jimmy Russell—Kentucky’s distinguished and longest-tenured active master distiller—oversees Wild Turkey’s iconic bourbon varieties. This distillery at the top of Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, if we’re lucky we might just might catch a glimpse of the legendary craftsman at work.

Then it’s back to the hotel to freshen up before dinner at Marketplace.
