Melek Mjaanes is a Certified Facilitator for The Work of Byron Katie.

The Work by Byron Katie is a simple and yet powerful process to identify and question the thoughts that cause us suffering, the thoughts that are behind all the anger, fear, frustration, confusion and disappointments.

Melek has been involved in Wellness for over 35 years all across the world, from NYC, to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Holland, Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. She worked at the LifeCo Detox Center in Bodrum, Turkey for over 12 years, teaching yoga, doing Energy Therapies and The Work. During the last six years, she served as a Staff member at several of Byron Katie’s events.

Byron Katie’s work was a huge revelation and the key to Melek’s freedom. Since she started to question the thoughts that were causing her to suffer, she no longer found herself sleeplessly staying up at night filled with anxiety or physical pain.

She understands the meaning of the word ‘serenity’, and her excitement at absorbing and experiencing life, with all its wonder and grace goes beyond inspiring, it is magnetic and transfers to all who experience her work.

Her assurance of the work is an extension of her experience! The Work has absolutely transformed her life. And her primary goal is to allow others to have the best life and joyous life possible.

Through The Work she has helped other stop pain that rises form relationships and brought peace to many lives.

The Work is about freedom, releasing the ‘victim’ mental frame, taking responsibility, letting go and having an open and free mind.

As Katie says ”The thoughts that make us suffer leave us after the inquiry...It is freedom... “

Through these retreat workshops, you will learn how to question your pain inducing thoughts by filling up a Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet and taking each thought to Inquiry with four simple questions and three Turnarounds.

Melek is very grateful and excited to share this simple, eloquent, elegant and yet powerful tool with those who are seeking clarity, authenticity and peace.

This general itinerary gives you an idea of how the days are broken into.

We reserve the opportunity to make changes as we learn about you and what you need throughout the week.

In 1994, after discovering Yoga in a book called ‘Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras,’ Gabe of GabeYoga has seen Yoga grow from obscurity to a household name. Having been inspired by the simplicity of the book in expressing the full potential of our psyche through breath and body, Gabe set out to empower as many people as possible. Students often comment how their life and practice have grown from just a workshop or retreat, while others have followed him around the globe in his many teaching adventures. Over the years Gabe has lived in India and Thailand, the latter is where he met the enlightened Thai Massage master, Pichest Boonthume, whom Gabe continues to study with regularly. Constantly seeking ways to inform and educate others, Gabe has received mindfulness training from Jon Kabbat Zin center, a Health Coaching degree from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Massage certification from Cortiva Institute and Thai Massage training from various schools in North Thailand.

Reviews

Gabe is an excellent knowledgeable teacher who shares all that he has learned from his masters. He taught BikYasa, YinYasa, Ashtanga and more.... The first week was BikYasa Teacher Training with YinYasa in the evening. During the heat of the day we in we sat cool, in Gabe's unit to watch videos with topics of anatomy, difference of yoga in the West & India, and more... Gabe does well in teaching retreats, giving us a toolbox of knowledge to refer back to long after the retreat is over. It's up to you to see how far you take it.... I'm going for it!!!
