Tibet Everest Base Camp Trek takes you to visit Everest Base Camp, three large cities of Tibet - Lhasa, Shigatse, and Gyantse, Namtso Lake, Rongbuk Monastery, and Yamdrok-Tso Lake. Furthermore, the trek takes you to Namtso Lake, the second-largest alpine saline lake in Tibet with an altitude of 4,718m above sea level. The lake's surrealistic beauty will take away your breath in no time. Furthermore, this trek covers all the main Lhasa tourist sites like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung, Sera Monastery, Gyantse Kumbum, and the Shigatse Tashilhunpho monastery.
The Tibet Everest Base Camp trek starts from Kathmandu as we drive for 9-10 hours to Kerung, Nepal-China border. From Kerung, we cross the Nepal-China border and travel to Tingri passing Tong La Pass (5,100m). You can observe beautiful mountain scenes on the way to Tingri. From Tingri, head towards Rongbuk which takes around 3-4 hours of drive. You can visit the Rongbuk monastery and also see the Rongbuk Glacier Zone. After sightseeing the Rongbuk area, we ascend towards Everest Base Camp for a close-up view of Mount Everest. You can enjoy the scenic view of the Base Camp and head back towards Rongbuk and then to Tingri.
After visiting Tingri, you can head towards Shigatse. Shigatse is the second biggest city in Tibet. The road is full of twists and turns while you can enjoy the beautiful scenes on the way. From Shigatse, you'll travel to Sakya. You can visit the Sakya monastery, which is the center of the Sakya sect. And finally, after visiting Sakya monastery you can travel to Gyantse. From Gyantse, you can visit the mysterious Palcho Monastery and Yamdrok Lake. From Gyantse, you can reach Lhasa and observe a traditional treatment center and research lab which produces Tibetan medicine. After visiting Lhasa drive towards Namtso for 6-7 hours. From there visit Lagen La Mountain Pass (5,190m) you will be able to observe the stunning view of Namtso Lake. From Namtso Lake, travel to Lhasa relaxing and observing scenic views on the way.
The best time to go for Tibet Everest Base Camp Trek is from Autumn (Mar-June) and Spring (Sep-Nov).
