Explore Tikal, one of the Greatest Maya Cities in the Lowlands during the Classic Period. It's a city that will immediately give you a good understanding of how great and advanced the Maya civilization was for its time. It involves a 20-minute drive from San Ignacio to the Belize border, paying the departure tax and walking across the border to the Guatemala immigration building. Your guide will walk you through the entire process and then drive 2 hours to Tikal National Park. We will spend between 3-5 hours walking exploring the main highlights of the city and going up the tallest temple in Tikal. The idea is to visit the principal plazas of the city, see what makes Tikal a popular site to visit and learn the interesting history of the city and its dynasty.At the end of the tour, the guide will lead you to your restaurant for a well-deserved lunch.The aim is to arrive at the border by 5:30 pm to check back into Belize and drive to your hotel.
